Finally broke the 600 barrier, booting at 610 so far, and check out that shmexy ram speed, some old Pi Blacks I had lying around hehe

Good to hear that,
do me a favor and try DRAM static read control and DRAM dynamic write control ENABLED at the bios.

Just wondering cos when I've taken my board high (550+) the PL has been on auto methinks, so no idea how high/low :/

IIRC, its kinda like RTL's on X58. Not huge, but it does give that last touch of efficiency. Of course I'm sure way loose just sucks.

They are enabled, I had to change that early on and it helped a ton :)

If I set them to disabled or auto it wont post.

It seems that 625 is about my limit without some cold on the NB. That is fine though, just want to be able to get some HW boints out of this chip for teh team :D

Now its on to the f1 and ln2 weeEEeeEee

Kal-EL 09-25-2010 01:54 AM

Good luck Joey

Dentlord 09-25-2010 08:02 AM

Ok does the REX play nice with quads? If I have a shot of hitting 5ghz with the q6600 ill give it a go today...
What kind of bus speeds can I expect with a quad core?

DrNip 09-25-2010 08:18 AM

Dunno. You looked at HWBot for this?

Dentlord 09-25-2010 08:22 AM

Net is down at the hotel, posting on my phone so searching the bot will be a pain, I'm gonna give it a shot here in a minute. It won't take too much ln2 to find out.

Highest legit with the Rampage methinks:
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...hz_4939.92_mhz
As this one is wrong, 13x multi?
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...hz_5005.13_mhz

But overall seems P35 seems to be the best, although that may be due to the time at which the cpu came out.

you beat me to it

and the 13 multi cuz its a ES

GeorgeStorm 09-25-2010 08:45 AM

Yeah, but then its not really a Q6600 is it :/

yes and no

it is a q6600 but no cuz its like cheating to some ppl cuz everyone cant get one

GeorgeStorm 09-25-2010 08:57 AM

But I didnt realise that ES's sometimes had different multis?
Cos that makes them no longer that chip in my mind?

Splave 09-25-2010 09:56 AM

I agree george :)

GeorgeStorm 09-25-2010 01:17 PM

I mean, cos I thought most ES's were just the same chip, but high or low leakage or whatever, and the problem was that they weren't available to public
But this just seems like another chip completely

Hondacity 10-17-2010 09:38 AM

I dont know how much it effects 2D it has a pretty big effect on 3D though. (Which is odd I think it would effect 2D more... but...)

My First 775 board with PL settings (ASUS) scored exactly 1K less points in Vantage. 15K vice 14K. Reason was I had a PL on auto and at 500FSB on a Q9300 it was defaulting to like 13. I boughtthe board (forget what it was) because itwas the first p45 to hit 700+ and I was just trying to get 550. (only got to 535, but was on air )

GeorgeStorm 10-17-2010 10:12 AM

Hmm thanks, hopefully I'll get a chance to rebench the cpus on DI/LN2, so should be getting better scores anyway, but i'll spend some time fiddling with the PL if I can.

Chuchnit 10-17-2010 04:49 PM

George PL will help in superpi too. RTL on X58 is pretty much what PL is to s775

Neuromancer 10-17-2010 06:08 PM

RTL is a minimal effect on X58 not like PL on 775.

Well I agree. PL is more pronounced, but tight RTL's will keep you from beating your head against the wall on your efficiency. But ya its just for that last little bit.
