Nice Allen,

Since you are running 100 FSB even, than you are not limited by the 99.5 nonsense... any chance of maybe running 55X and 102 bus?

That will increase all bus speed, including PCIE...

Bones 03-05-2011 04:35 PM

Damn Splave - Just running along, kicking azz and all that....... You'll get the next spot before long.

It started to get funny at 101x56 so I just kicked it back to 100 but yes I do need more cpu speed!

Thanks bones!

Just had a nice fail session in 06, SM3.0 scores were really bad. Using my other card without PLL mod...It really needs it bad to accept more coldage. :X

FINALLY 2K HW BOINTS w00t OCA FTW

Chuchnit 03-05-2011 05:40 PM

1600+ on a 580 is pure sickness!

Grats!
BTW I was not saying up bus for more CPU speed. Talking more bus for more bus sake :) PCIE, QPI, LSD, Lady Gaga whateber :)

EDIT: unless you sitting on a better score ;)

Yeah, his fail sauce sessions would be win for the rest of us! lol

Patch 03-06-2011 02:48 PM

On air, the new 990x boots into Windows at 4.8 Ghz with 1.375vcore with a mild QPI bump and ram at 1.65v, but takes 1.49v to boot at 5 Ghz.

No idea if that's good because I've never tried one on air before.......

Witchdoctor 03-06-2011 03:01 PM

Pretty sick on air,

Some preperation for Global domination ,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hmm thats pretty much what Sandy Bridge does too. Interesting...

Interesting Patch, are you gonna be doing much testing on air or you headed for frostland soon?

I bet its a temperature scaler.

Yuck time to start binning 990's :X Total CPU bottleneck in game tests GT1 and GT2 at 190x33 then 184x33 for CPU and GT3 GT4 (kept freezing in GT3 and GT4 randomly at 190x33) I really dont like 06 lol I will stick to the others for now. Going to Try sandybridge SLI in 03 tonight

Witchdoctor 03-07-2011 09:45 AM

6Ghz, Things could be a lot worse ..... :ohcrap:

That's dam nice as a matter of fact .................................................. .....

Patch 03-07-2011 10:29 AM

Splavezoner, you'll be binning for a looooong time to get a 6.2 ghz+ 3D06 CPU test chip. Since you can't go back up to 190X33 for GT3 or GT4, are you staying at 184X33 for convenience after the CPU tests? Should still be able to bump up base clock at least a little for the last 2 graphics.

@Kal: Hope it scales with temps and voltage.....
Gonna dink around on air for a while and try to figure out why my efficiency sucks hairy ones in everything lately.

Splave 03-07-2011 11:35 AM

Patch the new strategy seems to be not using HT in order run games test higher. IE 6.5ghz whole test. The cpu is not strong enough to climb back to 190 for the last 2 test. Tried it twice and failed both times. Left it at 184 and passes no issues.

GeorgeStorm 03-07-2011 01:14 PM

I think patch was suggesting trying 186 or something similar for the last 2, get a bit more cpu speed back.

Wow, how did I miss that

Kept getting 398, 399, and 400 but fudged the screen shot due to system freeze. Dropped the bclk by .1 and popped a 401k :D

Going to Intel Distributor to test atleast 20 2600K's that have landed for my city. I hope atleast 1 of them can do 56 multi. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks a lot guyz, looks like I am the most stupid guy in the world. I got a whole lot to test, http://img135.**********.us/f/p3080106.jpg/, but was still not able to pick a winner.

Best I have been able to get is 5450. Though while testing and even now, it doesnt get stuck with Post Error Code '4E' for multi even up to 57(with 99.5 Bclk, only 54 multi with 100.2 Bclk) but cannot go into windows vista/7. So I am hoping disabling cores or putting it under DICE/LN2 might do the trick, but the types of weird and varied errors I am getting above 54 multi seems to me that the CPU is not upto the task.

Splave 03-08-2011 08:33 AM

blinking command prompt?

blinking command prompt is to Asus as 4E code is to Gigabyte.

So I can get past 4E = blinking command prompt even at 99.5 x 57 multi (hence I thought I had a winner when I was testing at distri's place)

But now once I got home and started testing the chip, the problematic symptom is that, I can boot properly into Windows only at 99.5 x 55 or 100.2 x 54(with this Bclk I get 4E or the blinking cursor with 55 multi).
