That is why I purchased mine early as I was originally going to purchase it today, which is payday for me, but had a feeling they would be out.

I was in a breaking group in the 80's, everyone always said I could shoulder roll better in flanel.

If it trips the breaker, I'll break into an uprock then drop a skittle :rofl

dude get the damn PSU!

your wall socket has either 15 or 20 amp breaker

and your only going to see 10 amps being pulled from the wall by the PSU.

besides, whats the worst that can happen? burn the house down?????

Yup and if its a 15 pop a 20 in there for OC's sake!

(or do what I did when I moved back to NJ (in a 200 yr old house..) find a 16AWG extension cord that is 100' feet long, knock a hole in the retired kitchen chimney and run it from the second story down to the basement, so that you can plug into an outlet in the basement on a seldom used breaker to power your 850W enermax galaxy without tripping the upstiars :))

Well thats my experience anyway. 20AMP should be more than enough to power a 1500W PSU and a 24" Sony CRT :d

EDIT: Whoa did not see this wasa 7 page thread...and for my first post too... ewww. (also getting permission errors on img's. wierd)

Chuchnit 06-16-2009 07:00 PM

Welcome to the forum. No worries. Post where you wish :) Can you please explain these errors?

Buckeye 06-17-2009 03:59 AM

I would advise to not replace a 15amp fuse with a 20amp, bad things could happen :(

Also of note... A 1500watt PSU would only draw 1500watts if you computer pulled that much load. If for example your rig only pulled 400watts then the PSU would only supply 400watts, maybe a tad more depending on effency of the PSU.

All that 1500watts rating means is it CAN supply up to 1500watts.

I think the highest draw I have seen so far was when I tested the first version of the Never Extreme Enough rig. QX9770, EVGA 790i Ultra, Quad SLI 2x 9800gx2's and the big SSD raid and it was something like 800ish watts.

If you actually build a rig that needs 1500watts of power then you have other problems to worry about, like your power bill at the end of the month LOL. Like what the MonstaCade would cost me to run 24/7 HAHA.

It seems to be okay today. The images of the heatsink at the top of this page were not appearing, and when I clicked the links I got permissions errors.

They are showing up today though :)

I will start a thread in forum feedback if it continues.

As for replacing the breaker, if you are still using fuses, than I agree do not modify anything. If the electrical lines in your house are the old school cloth covered lines seperated by ceramic standoffs, (as half of my house is) than definitly do not change anything.

Anything more modern should handle a 20amp load with no problem though (just check the wiring coming out of the box for specifications).

A 1500W PSU at 80% efficency will draw 1800W from the wall at full load. Loading it full of course is kind of dificult to do. But it could be done.

Glad you aren't having anymore problems ;)

As far as loading that PSU all the way. Well I see that a while away hardware wise. Someone just posted 5ghz+ i7 | 4x4890 and claims he was seeing 1125w. I don't know if that was corrected or not though.
