Thanks for the insight Rich,

I think you have convinced me this is an effort in futility.

I will have to rethink my stratagy.

Ultimently this is really being planned out as an SB-e or Haswell build, Ivy is just what I had in the rack and with it being a heat monger thought it would be a good test bed

But from what you said about the power usage has me thinking as my grinnder basicall never gets turned off ........... :ohcrap:

Neuromancer 02-12-2013 06:13 PM

dude, I would love for you to play with TEC more and school us all in how it can be, there are just certain reasons why it never made mainstream and it was not condensation.

No reason not to slap that boreas on an A6 AMD APU and clock it up to 5.5 GHz drop in a single SSD and run CPU and IGP at ambient temps as far as I can tell.. And run your awesome X79 as an awesome x79... (just pretend you are powering an socket 2011 setup :))

No tec= quad rad for CPU alone I did on i7 1366, just the rad.. no LN2 no nothing and pushed the board limits 24/7. my setup never ran not 220+ out the windows for 240 atempts :) same setup released two screws and BRRR

TBH I am just upset you spent the money on the boreas. no matter what you got it for. It upsets me.

Witchdoctor 02-13-2013 05:05 AM

O well, it does do better than water alone based on my testing.

So it does have some value and with wattages coming down so I believe one day viable solution again.

I think for now I will side line it and move in an overkill ambient water solution.

I have a big case so I can fit an untold amont of crap in there,

Thansk for all your help and insight Rich

Had some time this morning and installed rads, fans, resivors & pumps on the front side of the build. Odered a 250 mm res tube so if my metric conversion was correct will bring it uo the the exact same hieght as the left one, also grabbed some fill ports and multi link adapters to pipe straight out of the top using solid 13 mm arcrilic tubing found in New Jersey, being multi link is for 12mm tubing it will be a tight fit, but think it is doable, may need to grab some Orings that are a touch thinner , if not can use some simple compresion adapters

Neuromancer 02-18-2013 08:07 AM

Woo whee! Overkill build :) I like it.

DOM 02-18-2013 09:36 AM

Why didn't you put the Rad in the bottom on the other side on the top ??

kikicoco1334 03-03-2013 10:16 AM

looks great bud!

Kal-EL 03-03-2013 11:50 AM

Shit, those real copper tubes? Thing is gonna run cool as heck with all that addtional heat dissipation.

Neuromancer 03-03-2013 07:04 PM

Freaking cool as hell! I always wanted to do a real plumbing job in a case.

Kal-EL 03-03-2013 08:47 PM

Seriously awesome sauce.

Witchdoctor 03-04-2013 01:14 AM

Thanks guys,

Finishing up some odds and end this week on the fill tubes and feed side of the loop and thern it is on to Hardware selection. Think I an going to stay with my SB-E, I have not read enough to think Haswell will bring enough to the table to make up for 2 c 4t advantage. And the chip Duke sold me seems nice enough as I am running it at 4.5 24/7 with just a single 140mm rad ATM .... So I should see an improvment with 120.8 rad

Looking at new boards the EVGA Dark and the Asus WS IB-E ready varients so it is plug and play when IB-E hits the streets , rumor has it these will hit the streets at the end of March begining of April.

Looking at existing x79 boards I have to think the Big Bang brings a lot to the table, but would really like to get a new gen x79.

Please hit me with a link if youy see anything out there while surfing around

Thanks

AWESOME SAUCE!
Did you braid them wires yourself? Love the Tubing!!!But it looks a little thin(im old!)Maybe its my eyes? I would have made it look more "BUSY" as the tubing does offer more cooling, Id have plumbing running all over the place almost like a Rad. You do Very nice work with that cooper!!
CHEERS!:Hi:

Need a deal on a SB-E hit me up I have an un molested RIVE with a 3930K 12 core

I do like the "Darth Vader" look it is giving off! To bad the cooper doesn't come in black make it like a Tuxedo look

thanks,

No I bought them braided like that Corsair has kits, got um on sale a Performance PC for 40 bucks on sale :)

it is relativly thing compared to the normal vinil tubing, it is only 1/4id 3/8" OD piping, but it a far less drag and actual speed of the water will be increased. We will have to see how it plays out but think it will be fine

A RIVE would look dam good mounted in there .............

Here are some pics I just took, have all 23 fans wired and connected to the fan bus's,,,, as well as the pumps are connected what a PITA .........

Thanks guys, wto hold out for the Ligtning additions but with rumores stating they were simply going to be a Twin Frzer cooler strapped on a reference design I figured there was no point as I am putting blocks on them anyway, Funny the difference between the Super clock addition and their signature addition is you get a t-shirt and a mouse pad ........... for only 50 bucks.... :ohcrap: new I should have gone with the signature addition, rumor has it they are 50/50 too ...........

Edit:

Here are a few pics of the progrees
