Updated 07/13/2010 -
Rampage III Extreme

BIOS 0860

1. Added additional memory enhancements
2. Enable official support for ROG Expander Board
3. Improved 3D performance at stock settings

http://www.mediafire.com/file/gi2zr0...-ASUS-0860.rar
Note - Uncore setting will now scale with BCLK settings when set to Auto. Manual settings will be required when running BCLKs over 220 to ensure stability and improved BCLK rates.

Note - LN2 Modes might need to be adjusted to improve cold clocking capabilities. Auto = LN2 mode 2, setting to LN2 Mode 1 will result in potentially better overclocking below -140C. This is dependent upon CPU quality and cooling.

BETA BIOS 9124

1. Added 2D SpeedBooster option for GulfTown owners
2. Enable proper memory table reporting in 3rd party applications
3. Improved 3D performance
4. Tweaked LN2 Mode settings

http://www.mediafire.com/file/zjm3md...-ASUS-9124.rar

Note - 2D SpeedBooster option is for non-3D applications like SuperPI, WPrime, and other programs that benefit from enabling CPUMicroCode ignore flags in the BIOS. Enabling this option will improve 2D application scores but will decrease 3D performance. We highly suggest disabling this feature for any 3D applications or benchmarking.

Note - This BIOS is still in Beta state and is released for those needing additional performance in 2D applications. We will have a final qualified version with improved memory and 3D performance shortly.

Beta BIOS Releases in Validation Testing as of 7/12/2010-
Maximus III Extreme (Audio, Memory)
P6T series (980x, Microcode, Memory)
P6T6 WS Revolution (Microcode)
P6X58D Premium (Microcode, Memory)
P7P55 series (enhancements)
P7H55 series (enhancements)

If your board is not on the list, it does not mean we are not looking at improvements, just that we have not reached beta release and validation test process.
Thats some interesting stuff!

asus is lucky to made the r3e so tweakable...now all they're doing is bios revisions after revisions... i'll wait awhile till they polish it some more

860 was what I was using with my new 980, ln2 mode 1 didnt help :( theres no helping a dud

Also Ive read 3d performance is increased, and 2d performance is decreased when benching vantage and 06

Tried the asus bios update utility, it doesnt work = false marketing
Tried the asus software cpu level up oc tool, it worked, cheeseball multiplier bump to 30 and vcore bump to 1.36, lol, I'm rolling noob dirty on the oc, hahaha.

Asus Xonar cooked, me sad :(

Just sve the BIOS to a file

then direct the ASUS update utility to the file and wola ....

I love it ... but hard to beat the eVGA flash form a CD ....

sucks on the hardware bro ... Posted a stop gap in that thread for ya

anandtech and asus r3e

http://www.anandtech.com/show/3851/e...fraid-to-ask/8

something worth looking into...

this weekend i might have time to delve into these new bios options..

Kriztoffer 09-23-2010 06:10 AM

Hey. I got this RE3.

But I'm really confused with many of the settings on the board, could you gyts help me out a bit? I've only been on phonix bios in my i7 carrier. Mostly EVGA.

Could you tell me what kind of safe voltages I could stay in on air/water and ln2. And what they mean, cause they're different than my EVGA bios settings.

CPU Voltage: no explanation needed
CPU PLL Voltage: What voltage is this, and what will it help my OC for?
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: I'm very unsure what kind of voltage I could use on this one. Same as CPU VTT in Evga bios?
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.65 for stock Vdim probably?

IOH=NB voltage, stay around 1.2 -1.3v?
IOH PCIE voltage = nu clue :S

ICH= South Bridge voltage. if I bump this voltage what benefits will I get?
ICH PCIE?

And there is a setting about T-Balance and X-power, Xpower is probably for clockaholics speeds?:D

And what BIOS Should I use for a W3520, 1005?

Best Regards Mr.rusty overclocker.com :)

pll 1.8 for me....some say its stable @ say 1.5v

qpi/dram core voltage.... qpi/dram(is imc) = vtt
dram bus voltage = vdimm

nb voltage = i set to auto..i haven't played with this one yet...prolly helps ... make sure the nb tems are below 60C this makes a lot of difference...

all other voltages i set to auto...
