LOL :rofl Rick, I'm not a tard.

I can spot a bogus tweaker shot without my glasses. :cool3: :D

There's a bunch of them in this thread. White backgrounds behind the #'s give it away.

You don't have to feel bad. I would have been shocked if the shots had the right values in them.

rickss69 09-19-2010 06:35 PM

Lol! Funny thing is all mine were legit up until that shot...something just took hold of me. :taunt:

I was the only one who posted cpu-tweaker shots in this contest. There will always be a white background behind any changed value in the cpu-tweaker tab. Try it for yourself and see...

Not even neccessary to change the value...it just shows you clicked on it. :)

sofos1990 09-19-2010 11:29 PM

I think everyone here won something from this contest...we now know SPI! :good: Many thanks for everyone's help and the great bunch of mentors we have on hand for giving us this opportunity.

Thanks Rickster! I was on vacation all week and was planning on hitting it again on Sunday but after driving all day back I had nothing left in me and decided to let it go. You had it all locked down anyway. Great job and thank you for the vids guys! I learned a lot from this contest.

Neuromancer 09-21-2010 01:39 AM

Nice job Rick! Thanks for sharing your mostly legitimate tweaks with us too :)

I do not pay attention to other peoples CPUtweaker screens as their settings generally would not work for my different setup anyway.

rickss69 09-21-2010 02:18 AM

You really should pay attention to the screen shots...there is always something to be gleaned from them. You can go back through the thread and look at my settings in cpu-tweaker as I progressed and see where and how much I changed different values. That is the reason I posted screens in the discussion thread. It is not so much the values or numbers themselves, but "where" they were made. As promised, I held nothing back. :good:

Splave 09-21-2010 02:39 AM

rick im interested in seeing what you think is the single most important thing to getting a good superpi and what suprised you the most with cutting time :) we need an interview, as him questions guys!

thebanik 09-21-2010 02:51 AM

^^he already replied I guess, subtimings, :P

rickss69 09-21-2010 02:54 AM

A wise old Romulan once schooled me in the ways of viewing other's screens. ;)

I stated earlier that I saw the largest impact when I delved into cpu-tweaker. It was the very first time I had ever messed with it and for me was purely trial and error (numerous bsod's).

Next on the list I would say using the Olive theme. All the time prior to the contest I just thought I had been using it lol. (I'm such a noob)

Getting the ram/cpu in the sweet spot was high on the list. You will notice that once it was found I never varied from it. I tried many combinations and always returned to it.

Running 16k and cycling themes had an impact...just not sure how much yet. One thing is certain...it wasnt negative.

Thanks once again Splave!

Edit: Of course, finally going to two cores and trying the wounded 980X was a win - win situation. Also the suggestion about trying different mb bios's was valid. I did try this and it just so happened that I already had the golden one installed.

Splave 09-21-2010 02:59 AM

no problem mate :) dont thank me thank yourself for all the time you put it

ReverendMaynard 09-21-2010 03:55 AM
