Okay no performance difference in PCMark with DX10/11 addons for XP :(

But... next step is taken. Picked up another 500GB WD Black, should have it by friday :) Little raid0 action should vastly improve my score as so far the two weekpoints are HDD and Transparent windows

Looking back through scores on hwbot, I decided to see if I could get any extra info on the high TW scores in XP and can't find the guy that did it.

Actually I am wondering now, if the XP mode thing in Windows 7 might help it out. Gotta be a way to eliminate 2D mode from XP, and allow hardware acceleration. From my research it supposedly is not possible without WDDM drivers, there must be a way though....

ah well, going to work on the DDR3 tonight and see if I can figure that particular annoyance out. Looking at the bot, with the right OS tweaks, I think I should be able to pull some 2D boints outta this CPU (just need to get into the 4.5 GHz range for wprime and tweak the crap outta these ram sticks :) )

Dude, you're a pcmark nut!

May I introduce you to a few other benchmarks?
AM3
3D01-Vantage
Pi_Fast
Wprime
Super_Pi

:taunt:

Virtual XP in Win7 will probably hurt scores big time. I've run Solidworks in VXP and there is quite a bit of lag.

Neuromancer 10-12-2009 02:07 PM

LOL

Yah if it takes a 5% in all tests, that makes it even with Vista :) The 2000% increase in transparent windows would more than make up for it :)

Mastered the wprime and Superpi on AMD (I think anyway :p)

i7 is driving me batty though. I think I need a better board.

Voltage adjustments are in +/- for half of them with no reporting of what they are actually running at. I set QPI to +.1volts so if it was running 1.1 stock it is within .5v of the vdimm and worst case scenario running at 1.35v stock it is at 1.45 which I read was MAX acceptable.

No software clocking that I have found yet, MSI tools are crap, both the OC center for the CPU and afterburner is a bunch of rubbish as well for video card

Reboot takes too dman long on this so I want to play with some bus speeds in windows with monitors so I can examine some things and test without having to load the OS a hundred times (It will come to that of course but its nice to have a park to play ball in :) )

Think I left b2bcas on auto contemplated setting it up to 6 right away, but decided against it. Rather get to a point where I can see if it has an effect before I start playing with it :)

Going to grab setfSB and cross some fingers. Oh and install ASUS voltage tweaker and see if I can get the right rivatuner for ATi :)

Neuromancer 10-12-2009 02:32 PM

Okay read the setFSB website and found a similar x58 MSI board, and setFSB reads everything correctly :)

Going to play with some ram speeds now :)

Kal-EL 10-12-2009 02:54 PM

Ramming speed bro, ram-man. Good luck. I see 4.6ghz in you're future.

Neuromancer 10-12-2009 04:13 PM

ME too.

finally got frustrated with these sticks and ripped the spreader off of them to check out the ICs.

Micron D9JNM single sided sticks on the Patriot Extreme series Viper ELK 1600 MHZ cas 9 setup available at amazon for $50

Looks like I was just being to too scared of the juice. When I booted them near 2k I must have had vdimm on auto or somethin', cuz I cant run clocks past about 1800MHZ on these at 1.65 9-9-9-2T But I see these ICs closing in on 2K at 7C if they are juiced

So really need to find out if for certain QPI Voltage IS VTT on the x58 platinum (supposedly it has a big effect on bclock OCing on this board, which would make a lot of sense, so going to add some more fans up QPI to +.25v and give the vdimm a little shock therapy :) 1.85v MWHAHAHAHAH

Fortunately my AMD rig with LV sticks will still be running when I torch this puppy lol

Neuromancer 10-12-2009 04:38 PM

MWAHAHAHAHAHAA Not hating DDR3/i7 anymore :)

Ok I know you guys do ALOT better but I was having trouble at 9-9-9 timings

So 2,000 MHz trichannel at 8-8-8 is pretty good for me :)

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=765125

1.32 QPI 1.82vdimm thinking 7CAS runs might be the next thing to try :) Nah...
Now that I think I have the memory under control, I can drop clocks and voltages and get back to the CPU and VGA clocking.

I know i'm late, but I just came across this thread. Happy late b-day bro :)

Good job clocking the ram too!

Neuromancer 10-12-2009 07:17 PM

Thanks

Been a trying evening for sure. I am done for tonight :(

My last DVI cable died. (4 for 4)
Could not get any stability past 4 GHz HT though.
Can boot at 1.25 4GHz.
Can linx at 190x20 or 200x19 at 1.3ish

tried up to 1.45 for a 205x20

Might have been stable I dont know after first test temp hit 90C so I killed it powered down and there she sits

Time to bust out the 25' VGA cable and bluetooth wireless desktop suite and window mount this bench station I think (after I complete rip down reseating/pasting of the sinks. IOH and CPU)

Might be a good idea to start looking into water cooling too
