Neuromancer 03-13-2010 02:45 PM

What DDR2 costs that much?

1200MHz cas5 1.8v is only $150 on newegg

^ Why do people with X58 boards need 12 or 24gb of ram?

I run everything on a native Linux install and I run Windows 7 in a virtual machine. Whenever I have all my programs going on the native and virtual machines, my memory usage is at 100% and so I want to dedicate 4GB to the VM.

Screen Flickering

So, my screen is flickering. This is an ASUS 24" 246V or 242 i dont remember.

Either way, its flickering. I at first thought it was BFBC2, no dice because it flickers whenever i put ANYTHING on it other than my desktop. So i decided to say maybe its the DVI port. Switched ports, the ASUS is still the only one having flickering. Okay, fine. So then i decided to change the default desktop to the other 24" still, not dice. The ASUS flickers whenever i put ANYTHING on it. The weird thing is, its not a normal flicker, its a weird static grey flicker. It happens much more often when there is actually something on the screen, but it also does it on its own as it is right now. I've tried screen shotting it, but it happens so fast i cant catch it and im afraid i don't think it can be screen shot. (edit i just screen shot it and it didn't show up on the screenshot).

This problem ONLY occured today after i installed my 2nd 24" monitor. Which led me to believe that maybe it was a problem with my Videocard VRAM. Checking EVGA precision all my temps and clocks seem perfectly normal....

I'm just confused as to what it could be. I'm more inclined to say Monitor after my testing...

You test that monitor by itself?

Russianhaxor 03-15-2010 03:45 PM

I switched signal inputs and it still flickered. I just wanted someone else to confirm my dreadful conclusion.

I would say it's probably the power supply getting ready to die. Same thing has happen to me.
