@neuro- the "run 16k a few times" trick works best when you get a time of .094s or faster. This is due to the pi_rec2.dat (or something similar) file it creates when running 16K. There is yet another even faster pi rec that can be created by runnning 16K, 128K, 1M, and (possibly) 32M I havent hashed out the right times for it yet though. But it boosts 32M by another few percentile.

so you wazza then run 16k a few times or run 16k a few times then wazza?
|
I run wazza then do the 16k a few times until I get a way lower score than the normal 16k run.

You use spitweaker waza or just regular copy a file over? Reason being I noticed that Spitweaker makes a large files consisting of a bunch of small files. When I first heard about the waza trick it was recommended to use a DVD ISO or something similar. One single file over 4GB. (I have since read that the file size is entirely subjective, I will be trying out some of my BD reencodes next time I run Pi though) Wondering if my decrease in performance using SPiTweaker was due to file size, noncontiguous file size or I just did something wrong lol |
I am using OCXtreme SpiTweaker. My file size is anywhere from 1600MB to 4000MB. I will be posting my findings on this utility as soon as get get my testing done on it.

i found running 64K 3 times then running it nets best results ;)

WOOOOO WHEEE!
Thank you thank you thank you guys for all the awesome tips :) Between this thread and the other superpi thread, I managed to seriously enhance my scores!! And I find out that yes 1M is effected pretty nicely by tweaks :) Unfortunately crashed getting 17 seconds flat at the same clock speeds I was running last night :) (It is a little warmer in here) but got enough progression shots, and managed to shave another half second of my time from last night (17.59 at 4030 MHz).. "But WAIT there's more!" Managed to shave another whole MINUTE off of my 32M time :) Tweaks used Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. Full install, added DirectX SP3 and updates. System cache mode (checked out Blutos recommendation about large cache... it was already enabled) 192MB pagefile on USB stick. MAXMEM 800 Olive Green Luna Kill Explorer Set affinity to core 3 Set priority to realtime Run 16k for oddly out of place great score (last two loops identical) Run 1M Run 1M again Bump it up a Mhz and run again and again. find a good one restart and go again and again :) Same exact process I used with 32M. Except I added Waza Put a 8.2GB video file on 3rd partition on same drive Restart, run SpiTweakers cleaning program Copy file to C: drive 16k 16k 1M 32M Awesome results :) Btw. Apparently the number one top spot for my AMD 920 in 32m was a single stage.. Now its an Air cooler!!!! Going to hit up Wprime tomorrow, I think a lot of the tweaks carry over, keeping my fingers crossed :) I did forget one thing I did tonight that I saw mentioned in the "living" spi guide. I went to defrag with windows defrag, and it said chkdsk was set to run. (40% fragged yikes!) So i rebooted let chkdsk clean up a million errors LOL (yeah been riding this HARD) Then I installed O&O Defrag and ran complete/ACCESS defrag. Rebootski and than followed the other steps. |
