guys ever try the x28 multi?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=246726

I guess some chips like different multis than others. Going to try it out today myself. Whats the deal with the ram clocks on the p55 classy, still garbage?

Kal-EL 03-08-2010 04:08 AM

My chip doesn't much like the single core action.

Splave 03-08-2010 04:35 AM

I just improved my best spi 1m a couple ms with the 28 lol! the 26 goes higher as well

26x247 and 28x231 both worked 90mhz higher than x27 for me

I'd look at that psu and give it a good thorough checking with a multi-meter. Travis lost a bunch of hdd's to a bad Antec a couple days ago, took out two boards as well.

Yes I checked dmm all the way all rails seams ok unless the psu is peaking at some point. 3rd HDD isn't a joke so I will retire this psu just to be safe.

Will go with the Antec Quattro 1200w.

Splave 03-08-2010 06:25 AM

great psu :)

Which ram for p55 + i5

Testing ADATA's 2200 cas8 4gb kit and so far terrible results using 2:8 and 2:10 divider's (no post on code 18). Looks like this board is ram picky when I stick the i5 in.

Edit: Bios A58

Hondacity 03-08-2010 08:32 AM

the adatas are good.what voltage do you run them at? subtimings?

Honda I'll have to get back to you after work. Voltages where from 1.65 to 1.72vdimm using dividers 2:8 and 2:10 none worked after 1900ddr3.

They fly with the p55 i7 2200 c7-7-7-20-62man very good ram but as soon as I stick the i5 hard to get them over 1900...

Hondacity 03-08-2010 08:52 AM

what temps do you have on the cpu? imc needs to be cold to get it running fast...

Honda I'm just air testing prior to nitrogen. I just wanna see what are the best tight timings I can get out of them before cold. I see Bryan's run almost at 2000cas7 and I can't even get near that.

So you say it's because it's on Air? I did the same with my I7 860 tested on air, tight timings all the way to 2400mhz+ and it was about the same after ln2 and these ram did really scale nicely.

Hondacity 03-08-2010 09:05 AM

different imc's dude....

also the 32nm cores have picky imc's

Here Honda,

All timings on 'Auto' DDR3 @ 1900mhz 1.68vdimm:

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/2117/img0116od.th.jpg.. http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8...g0115eq.th.jpg.. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1...g0114ex.th.jpg

These settings fails memtest 2.11 (freeze)... This baffles me. You think problem is on the auto subtimings?

@auto those timings look bad...lower the voltage to 1.64 or 1.63v

Jor-El 03-17-2010 02:12 PM

Kal, did you see any difference in performance between the several pci_e 16x slots? Did you pick one in particular or all of them are good?

Kal-EL 03-17-2010 03:08 PM

I didn't screen the pci-e slots at all, I just jumpered the excess slots to the off position and used the first slot.

Hondacity 03-17-2010 04:14 PM

p55 ftw :D

i tried the 8x slot....it seemed slower..and stupid anyways..lol

i used the nearest to the cpu...it worked out great...

Jor-El 03-17-2010 04:31 PM

cb cbb mod and stock

Thanks for the quick replies, I just finished CB/CBB mod.

On this board I decided to go with a switch to turn the mod on and off

CB/CBB Switch:

http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/2...chonoff.th.jpg

Mod on OFF position should read 0.75 on dmm:

Mod on ON position should read 0.00 on dmm:

this was in the third slot

http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...661_7sec_578ms

Think they are all the same, I did hear things about switching ram slots adding a couple mhz in some cases though. Worth a shot

Jor-El 03-28-2010 07:49 AM

i5: eVga 2:8 or 2:10 divider

What's the magic trick to get this board to run 2:8 ram divider with the i5?

I already tried upping vtt from 1.3 to 1.6max with no luck. Vdimm from 1.60 to 1.76max. I also used Hiwa's 9 and 7 on R to W and W to R.

Also what's the pch volts supposed to help with? I see shamino's template asks us to use a 1.45pch but sometimes I lock when I'm at 1.4pch and it seems to me that system works perfectly fine with 1.1 and high mhzs.

Hondacity 03-28-2010 08:14 AM

holy smokes your hardware list is awesome...that aside

have you tried the xmp profile? try that first...

Hey Honda thanks 'dude' :)

I'll give that a try. Only thing I don't have is time :-(

Well I finally got the i5 strapped to the Cascade yesterday and I'm finally starting to play with tweaks. PCMark05/wPrime etc just to see the board reactions before the Ln2.

PCMark05 did really well  Teaser:

Hondacity 03-28-2010 09:04 AM

nice run jor

anyways...see what the xmp profile asks for..then use those values...

Splave 03-29-2010 01:50 PM

check delays?

Splave 05-11-2010 04:29 AM

resurrected

Been playing p55 for a while today as im out of ln2 and have made some headroom in the Ram department! 2:8 and 2:10 specifically.

Its all in the sub timings. Setting all timings below command rate to 12 and a couple others loosened up a bit (see cpu tweaker screen)

Primary timings are read incorrectly for some reason though, 8 8 8 24 88 set in bios. These settings are superpi 1m stable so far

hope this is helpful as I was really frustrated before as well.

Jor-El 05-11-2010 06:17 AM

Thanks for sharing that Splave I'm pretty sure I tried it all even settings those to 15-15-15-15-15 but I will give it another go with the cascade and low multi see if I can break that 219blck barrier with 2:8!

Splave 05-11-2010 08:31 AM

will take some bios photos tonight and post them up :)

Jor-El 06-03-2010 04:02 PM

Splave, Honda, Duke etc what bios are you guys benching with? I stopped on BIOS A58 I think. Just checked eVga website and they climbed all the way up to A70!

Hondacity 06-03-2010 04:09 PM

i think i'm still using the old bios(a51)..lol i'll try the new one later maybe i'll be able to do 2:10 :D

Splave 06-03-2010 05:35 PM

a70 for 655k support for me. Worked well

1800s even though wprime doesnt matter it was bootable there
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...55k_7sec_532ms

Hondacity 06-07-2010 11:22 PM

2:10 or rather 4:20 is working great with the a70

nice honda :)

Jor-El 06-09-2010 10:43 AM

Will I finally be able to run Spi1m and Pifast at 6.9g and using the 2:8 divider?! Have to try this new BIOS.

Hondacity 06-17-2010 10:11 PM

warning...70 i think has a bug...vcore set to 1.9v jumps to 2.1v....

its like the vcore booost bug.....

i'm switching to a58

Hondacity 06-17-2010 10:45 PM

confirmed vcore boost bug...

try 1.5v and watch the vcore jump...

also when cpu crash...you have to fight cold boot bug.....
