I guess the thing to do would be try and grab an es from ebay and not get a warranty

Splave 03-12-2010 04:52 AM

then again the guys that have the ES usually know when they have a good ES and wont sell it.

:ohcrap: 2.4ghz A0 stepping on there now :P

Well from what rumors are around the chip will die easily if pushed. So you're stuck with major bointage with a strong CPU that may die, or warranty with a "most likely" to clock less CPU that will still give boints. What to do, what to do??

I know its the nature of the game, but it sucks that all the favorites get the es that kick major ass and get us all excited about the chip, then when it goes retail the rest of us get crap ($1100 dollar crap at that)

Best thing to do is sit back a month and observe. Of course now that is easier said than done.

but man it would be great if you do get a hot rod ............

The general consensus on B1 Stepping is that its utter crap. I don't have anything reliable in the way of b2 stepping yet.

Sometimes you roll the dice and you get lucky tho, there have a been a few times when I bought blindly at the egg and wound up with a better than decent performing chip.

Two schools of thought on these chips.

1) Roll the dice and pick up a chip which may or may not perform marginally better than bloomfield
2) Sit tight and set aside funds till the timing is right to pounce on better performing batches + see fermi results.

1) roll them dice baby! have my lady blow on em first ;)

i960 has been an epic egg chip for me, lets keep the streak alive. Would be sick if tiger direct carried them, 13% bing cash back, $130 off.

Hondacity 03-12-2010 06:58 AM

i7920 when it first came out 5.4ghz bam!

Far as I've heard, this is a good batch for sub-zero and should hit 6ghz+

Splave 03-18-2010 09:30 AM

If I had a sack I would buy it lol wait what?

FACE 03-18-2010 09:33 AM

Seems like a decent price.... Wonder if it is a dud-me-down though.

Kal-EL 03-20-2010 09:29 PM
