I agree Nip. Last DICE session I had more fun throwing it at the neighbors cat.

Screw the 32m MSI comp stage. Send the lightning back. Give your wallet and mind a break. Maybe revisist some of the other hardware you have laying around?

I'll tell you where not to go and that is MSI until they get their act together.

Bingo. Nothing but a bunch of products that are 99% complete. That last 1% will get ya though. It's like they have the design concept, but they just can't pull a complete product together.

Shiat these bastards need a wake up call man. The whole freakin overclocking community should boycot them.

GeorgeStorm 11-08-2010 11:01 AM

Any of you guys tried the Giga SOC or whatever its called?
Might have better luck, can't really be any worse :P

Dentlord 11-08-2010 11:03 AM

We arent that far from 480s being meaningless anyway, just like the 5870s are now. No need to kill yourself trying to get a slightly better card when it will mean nothing soon.

Witchdoctor 11-08-2010 11:18 AM

This ^

Really an insane purchase at this point as they will be pwnd in a month

DrNip 11-08-2010 11:24 AM

580 drops tomorrow. 6890 just got hit with a delay. Maybe next month.

the soc 5870 with the missing vid chip....was utter fail :D that was a bad example from them. taking away that chip hindered overclocking. since we're into overclocking i say FUGB.

Source???

DOM 11-08-2010 01:40 PM

duke, i seen it on tpu ;)

GFDuke 11-08-2010 01:52 PM

Roger that. i foound it. I don't think i've ever seen a card released without sme sort f reviews on it before hand. Very sneaky of them.

GeorgeStorm 11-08-2010 02:00 PM

That is something I had wondered aswell.
Why there has been seemingly so little stuff about it.
Seen hardly any performance figures apart from those from that chinese website claiming 15-20% over the 480.

Hondacity 11-08-2010 02:02 PM

nvidia is scared if the 6970 gets an advantage....

DOM 11-08-2010 02:18 PM

i just found out they craked in to the sever and changed the watermark to word perliminary?? but review going to be out tonight midnight i think he post them on tpu

isnt it just a 480 with 512 cudda cores ?

OC Maximus 11-08-2010 10:11 PM

thebanik 11-09-2010 12:42 AM

Good going OCM!!!!

Looks like 580 is up for sale, price doesnt look too good though.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-590-_-Product

DrNip 11-09-2010 12:43 AM

10% off though will save ya $57 or so depending on which card ya get.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...580+&x=15&y=35

Chuchnit 11-09-2010 01:44 AM

Betcha MSI and Gigabyte are pissed over this whole 580 thing considering they just designed and manufactured non-ref 480's. Oh well, they should have got on the ball faster.

hmmm....so its pretty close to the 500$ mark of rumors which were floating. Waiting for the 6970 now, whichever one is the leader in hwbot would pick that. Hopefully only one of the cards would be a leader and the spoils are not shared by both....

You guyz got loads of money....Please hire me as your LN2 pourer, will work for food and hwboints, :P

Splave 11-09-2010 03:23 AM

How will MSI ever learn if you keep buying their shit??!!?? :taunt:

Probably gonna pick up a GB as well for this weekend, unless EGG will ship here to AZ for me.

Splave 11-09-2010 03:29 AM

well I figure they are the ones that always run the contests :D and I had 3 shit evga 480s

Yeah that last bit has me worried, Bren was livid when I told him I went against his advice and bought EVGA. :ohcrap:

I think they just got a bad batch of Fermi chips when 480 dropped, there were a LOT of bad to mediocre ones out there from all brands.

Chuchnit 11-09-2010 03:34 AM

So how pissed are you guys going to be when the mods to bypass the 300w limit is under NDA and only the cool kids get to play?

As soon as the power draw exceeds a predefined limit, the card will automatically clock down and restore clocks as soon as the overcurrent situation has gone away. NVIDIA emphasizes this is to avoid damage to cards or motherboards from these stress testing applications and claims that in normal games and applications such an overload will not happen.

I think we will be able to get it from someone from MSI or a friend ;)

Splave 11-09-2010 04:32 AM

was hoping for ASUS but no dice yet

RomDominance 11-09-2010 04:34 AM

Always hope for the best for all my brochachos....its always a crap shoot. I am glad my wingman is bringin the 580's to the party this weekend.

Great news: Dentlord will be doing the Tuslan convention with me this weekend! We plan to go thru at least 150 liters and see how much damage we can do. This is the convention that OC did with me last year. I will stream most, if not all of it, so you guys can check it out if you want. I will make a separate thread with livestream links on friday.

Hondacity 11-09-2010 04:36 AM
