yeah you can get a NB pot pretty cheap or just splash the nb cooler with LN2 and it will help

OK guys. I've been on vacation for a bit but time to get back on the grind. Got me a new lil toy to play with.

Already straight out the gate it is a learning curve as it sure doesn't handle like the 920 I got. The 920 is 4.315ghz stable at 1.275v wheras this one takes somewhere between 1.36-1.4v to just run idle at 4.3ghz. Crazy thing is at 4.3ghz and 1.4v it runs about the same temps as my 920 at only 1.275v!!! I will be knee deep in work for awhile in plans of running LN2 11/2 thru 11/4. Wish me luck and I hope this thing scales like a mo-fo under extreme temps.

On a side note punx, I will be sending that Asus off to you to get the hook up my friend sometime next week so be prepared or be squared and as usual there is no rush. :D

Well unfortunately the only thing extreme about this chip is its name as it isn't looking good. That was always the reason of me not droppin $1k on a chip in fear of it being a P.O.S.!!! Looks like I have alot more testing on it. Might have to drop some DICE on it to see if it performs better than what it is on air.

you will be very happy to know taht some chips that do very well on air/water do crappy on sub ambient, however one like you have does crappy on air/water soemtimes will do great on subzero :D

Yeah that is what I am hoping for. My air testing is complete as it is going nowhere. Can't get it past 4.6ghz for the life of me. But like I said, this thing stays unbelievably cool no matter what volts you throw at it. Had it at 4.5 something ghz with 1.5v and temps were lower 40's!

Well 15lbs bought. Really only wanted about 10lbs as that is all I really use to get the damn thing done, but hey, more never hurt. Picking up where I left off at months ago. That being lower vtt = higher bench runs. So far half way thru Vantage at 5ghz at only 1.4v vtt and 1.525v vcore on my 920. :D

Nailed it. Vantage just realized I'm his daddy. 5ghz 3D run for the 1st time on my 920. Problem before I was running 1.575 vtt and it just wasn't happening. 1.4 is the magic number. Looks like I have a low vtt chip here boys. :D

Well I set a little time aside for some benching this weekend. Been a bit since the last go around but what can ya do, right? Been real busy here in my part of the world. Usually I'm a early morning bencher but going to flip flop the game and do it at night this time for those that are morning risers. Saturday night on 4/24/2010 after my grill out I'm going to get it on. This is going to be strictly a 3D bench session though I'm itching to get me some 2 D in as that is my favorite. When I finally get my P5B Deluxe modded I will bust out the 2D.

I have a 4870x2 but it is pooched for the moment being so it won't be out to play. I know, I know, I know. How the hell am I going to get all those cards benched? Beats me but I'm damn sure going to try do it. My goal is just to get base runs in on all of them in every bench and then if I have time come back and tweak them to try to get more. If my schedule is free come back later on in the week and try dicing some of the cards.

Sorry guys, ran into traffic this weekend. My cookout went from 13 people to 21 and they were here till late into the night and yesterday was the deck project. I did manage to strip the mobo down of all the old eraser and get it cleaned of dust. Tonight I will re-eraser it and get the pot slapped on. Shooting for tomorrow night.
