Well that was a couple hours of endless fail ....

I got into windows a total of ONE time ... and bsod within seconds.

Mostly just no post, cycle to defaults, try something else, no post, cycle to defaults, no post ..............

and that was as low as 550fsb.

Looks like I got a stinker REX, and pretty much useless since any boints to be had with e8600 are over 6ghz.

What strap, divider and PL were you running? On 775 I always started on like PL10-12 and sorted everything else out first. Then tightened it up. My old board hated certain memory dividers too. IIRC, all I could run at high fsb was the 333/5:8.......... I think thats the divider. It was the next to highest memory mhz in bios on the 333 strap. Yours may hate all of the 333 and love 266 strap. Try it out.

I can only imagine if you are wanting to get upwards of 6.5 GHZ that will require alot of NB volts and might require a pot. Then again I might just be full of it as I have never been that high. Good luck.

where are you getting your black ops from man?
i been wanting to get one of those for a while now..
dosn't it comes with like a pot on the nb? :D

Chuch to the rescue ... PL loosened to 12 and it got me booting into windows @ 575 ... at least I have something to start with now.

It likes the 400 strap, wont post with anything else actually.

This is all on phase btw, trying to get settings for 620 or so so I can go for 10 multi under ln2.

Slightly off topic, how much does the PL affect benches (2D)
Just wondering cos when I've taken my board high (550+) the PL has been on auto methinks, so no idea how high/low :/

YES 400 was the best in my case as well.

Well I discovered one of my problems .... I had almost zero contact between my evap and cpu LOL.

Got the cpu overtemp warning in bios once and decided to check out the mount, which was horrid! I oriented the clamshell the wrong way and caps were holding it up off the cpu. Lucky I was only testing at low speed / cpu voltage.

It was booting windows at 590fsb before that though, so I am finally on the right track.

Splave 09-24-2010 11:25 AM

god I hate that, did it with the lightning the other day lol

HITandRUN 09-24-2010 11:35 AM

Yeah happened to me before as well. Glad you are on the right track again! Give her hell!
