Jacking Shiznitty up a notch

Setting up my office for inta-cold is getting jacked up
Attachment 1830 On a good note, it appears I've finally nailed down some decent image resizing settings for the forum :D |

Looking good brudder
|
Nice set up! Did you fire this monster up already?
|
looks like a win setup supester.
|
Hey that looks pretty good.
That suction is a real beast to get it to flex around LOL :) |
That thing is massive.... I want one. How's the building coming alone Bill? I'm itching like a prostitute's pantie line....
Off to the DIce hookup now... ugh, it seems so inconvenient now.... |

You may want to get the sides of the unit some more breating room ... with two compressors running this are going to get hot or duct that AC unit to the intake of the condensor so the condensor fan dumps out some cooler air across the componets. Or you could cut a hole in top and fire a fan down to push that AC air across the unit as well |
I am getting very close, but I still have somethings to get before I can get started. Maybe next month sometime I might be ready. But I am really looking at perhaps May, unless I get a sponsor of course LOLOL
|
Sure looks nice Kal-El big congrats to you man! Can't wait to compare some results :D
|
I'd love to compare some results, but first, I gotta hit home depot in the a.m. for some industrial sized extension cords. My 15amp breaker keeps tripping when loading into windows.
Turned off everything in the room except the cascade and the bench rig......... So far the results are: She'll run wprime 32m @ 5.2ghz @ 1.72 vCore if boot up at -102c and launched before -96c in windows. If left to idle, she'll drop all the way down to -66c. She'll idle @ -94.5c in windows xp @ 5050mhz @ 1.62vCore and pass all benchmarks including wprime 1024m but will drop down to -88c during test. At stock clocks and voltage, she'll cool down to aroun -102c after a while in the os. So, in summary, it appears that under Gulftown, this cascade is only capable of reliable runs in teh area of 5050 thru 5100mhz. Incidentally, cpu score in 3d06 @ 5050mhz is 11080 ish. |
Yeah I think Gulftown might be pushing this unit pretty hard compared to what it was built for. 1.7vocre :ohcrap:
Before a test let it sit for a min and watch 1out temps, let it come back as low as it will go before starting the run. That is the key to load handling, let the Cascade come back to normal temps/pressures before starting test. |
changing cables won't help....try running the cascade off of one breaker..and the pc.at another...
or try changing your breaker to 20A..unless your house has a limit of 15A ...lol |

At least that is what I did when I went out and bought Heavy duty cord. 20 AMP for shizzle the serious bencher needs a room with two 20AMPs anymore with AC units, phase change and 1200+ W PSUs. |
That setup is gonna be perfect for pretesting settings Kal. Also would be great for older gen cpu benching, since its cheaper than LN2 and u can score a ton of hwpoints

My a/c air unit runs off a seperate breaker via extension cords and that cord gets pretty darn hot during operation as its your run of the mill ext. cord. Quote:
This gufltown chip is getting wicked hot and leaky. It'll need ln2 love. Quote:

12 gauge romex is fine for 20A, 14gauge is pushing it. One 15Ah circuit should be fine for the 2stage if its on solo....less extension cords the better.
|
I was able to run the full cascade off of one wall socket, and all the rest of my compter stuff in the same roon, including another SS Phase.
I thought you had the office power upgraded when we first talked about this stuff long ago ? hmm my room is ready for a 3 stage ;) |
Quote:
Go check your breaker, its prolly a 20a while mine is a 15a and running all sortsa crap in my office. The cascade runs fine off ONE wall socket, just wanna move it off the office circuit. |
I would bet his office has 2 circuits. Not even 2400w would be enough for the monsta, a SS and a couple of overclocked computers and all the accessories that go with it.
EDIT: What is the RLA on those compressors? |

In my case its usually some podunk piece of crap... but it gets me to the bot to compare benches mid run :) |
The hard part in starting any of these Cascades is not running, but starting them up, huge draw of power when you kick those bad boys on.
I very well might have 20amp fuses, I will have to look. I know my old house would not have been able to run the Cascade, some pretty old wiring inside that old house. |

why can't i use my AWG12 extensions? i bet these cables are better that whats in my walls. also active PFC compensates for the losses. also you can't change your breaker to 20A if they were originally 15A..if you have weak cables in the walls...you'll heat those up easily. breakers are there to limit the current draw out of them. |
Im running my setup off a 100' 12 gauge extension to an outlet right next to the breaker box!
|
Gonna try running the 3580 on the cascade right now. http://www.livestream.com/kal_el?t=596829
Waiting for cascade pull down. |
i missed the liveshow..what happened?
|
Intermission......
|
more more more! :P
|
Your cascade a single plug kal? I run mine off 2 seperate 15 ampers.
