Good call Jerry. Can't lie, both Allen and I wanted to bring this one home in a serious way. Glad it all worked out. Those two are top notch overclockers and great friends. I sure hope that we can get an OCA event going for winter CES in Vegas the first week of Jan. '11. Kal and I are kickin it around right now,...It has the potential to be absolutely legendary though.

Oh and thanks to Gautam for the congrats, don't be a stranger bud.

RomDominance 08-17-2010 07:03 PM

Only for you guys. That hat is now reserved for only the most important engagements.

No need for an Official hwbot account, my account is for rent ;)

Splave 08-26-2010 03:28 AM

I think darth has brian convinced to do this case modding deal. Totally not my thing lol

brian@asus 08-26-2010 08:55 PM

eric actually came up with the initial idea and i made it into what it is right now. The purpose is to promote rampage iii gene for its small form factor. and how can we really show form and function? to do overclocking and a bit of case modding. there are a million ways to reduce weight in a case or even make a case super light weight. just think strategy and loop holes =P its limited to air and water only. since we are scoring on weight as well, youll have to decide if its smarter to go air or water. decisions decisions... start prepping!

brian@asus 08-26-2010 08:56 PM

actually splave and romdom cant compete for this one =P

Kal-EL 08-26-2010 09:16 PM

Feel free to start a new thread on the second round Brian. I'm certain there will be tons of questions here and at xs. For instance Natural Ambient temperatures vs a/c cold rooms. Open bench tables vs actual enclosed cases etc.

Patch 08-26-2010 09:40 PM

Not my thing either, but this should have very broad appeal.

Neuromancer 08-27-2010 03:25 AM

lightweight is the easy part. threaded rod chassis FTW!!

Thanks for hosting it though...We (Al and I) shouldn't dominate all of the time:cool3: I know that aesthetics will play a big part in this contest as well as weight and performance.

Can I get a big AMEN BROTHER! So totally ready to do that.

V2-V3 08-27-2010 08:44 AM

Carbon Fiber fabrication FTW :D

if you really wanted to win you could use Carbon Nano Tubes and build a case that is also the heatsink :D

CNT have the same thermal conductivity as CBN and natural Diamond (2400w/m-K) about 6x better than Copper or Silver. Dont forget to use Graphene as your TIM and remove the CPU IHS to reduce overall system weight!

I hope yall have some friends at MIT :D

Hondacity 08-27-2010 08:57 AM

i'm already thinking of setting up my p55 and my i5-680 with a >>>>>>>>>secret hardware>>>>>

:)

i wanna have a reason to go to cali ..lol

too bad the prizes aren't as good as quakecon...

shouldn't we be talking on anutha thread?????????????
