Did you really break 250 bclock? WOW!! I wonder about that cbb. Seems like the temp changes from mobo to mobo as much as it does cpu's.

DrNip 06-01-2009 04:30 AM

I had to stop and scoop the DICE out of the pot 5 times last night due to the temps being -50 to -60 degrees. As soon as it fell below -50 we were cool and it would start. Now it would run at -50 to -60 just wouldn't boot. Big pain in my ass I tell ya.

No I didn't hit that high chuchnit. It was really 238 BCLK but somehow went to a mult of 22 but CPUz reported it at 21 mult which didn't pass verification. What I think I was doing wrong or at least holding me back 1-2 more BCLK was my QPI Frequency was too high. I didn't realize it until my last scoop of DICE and I was already booted. Temps were at -52 and I knew if I restarted it would cold bug. But I had no option so I restarted it. COLD FCUKING BUG!!! It wouldn't boot so my night was done as I was out of DICE. :( Maybe next time.

What's sad is it's the mobos out holding this chips back. I can hit 4.85ghz on air but on DICE I can only do .1ghz more than I could on air? Double WTF. I can't wait until newer and better mobos drop as I see 5.5ghz or more w/ 920 D0's in the future.

Kal-EL 06-01-2009 04:44 AM

Looks like the Classified doesn't suffer from these cold issues, just by what I've seen at XS so far. Wouldn't it be great to have one of those boards?:popcorn:

Kal-EL 06-01-2009 04:50 AM

Which Evga X58 is better? The non-nf200 or the nf200? Doesn't seem to be in stock at Evga anyhow.

Chuchnit 06-01-2009 04:55 AM

Well that totally sucks buddy. I just know I've read that these i7 mobos are about as inconsistant as the chips for different cb's. Seems like guys are saying same chip has -xxx cb on a mobo and -xxx on b mobo.

Sadly unless there is an EO stepping or something I think the classified will be the pinnacle for mobos for some time. Everything on it was spared no expense and made of the best parts for overclocking. I just don't see a company spending the money to top it. That of course could change with the new revision of the nb?? When is that coming out?

DrNip 06-01-2009 05:24 AM

They both are knocking the skin off the ball supes. I will prolly go w/ the nf200 as I have seen more out of the parks with it. :D

Just got to throw some papers for a month or so. :(

Kal-EL 06-01-2009 05:37 AM

Looks like newegg has some in stock. Man it'd be cool to snag one of those. I think it's the nf200 board too!

DrNip 06-02-2009 03:15 PM

Tried doin some more overclockin on this piece of, pardon the language, shit mobo tonight with no luck. Damn thing does some squirrly stuff now. Every reboot it once to cut off, then cut back on and load as well as being stupid with the BCLK's over 220. Will be out of the game for about a month or at least the overclockin game. Got to save $700 for my new mobo and RAM. Do look for a video or pics of the destruction of this mobo when the new one drops. :D

Buckeye 06-02-2009 03:52 PM

Hey found this thread. Nice results Dnip !!

I haven't seen many cold issues on the Classified. On the runs I made with my D0 I was hitting -130c but ended up at -110c as that seemed to be the sweet spot.

Problem is at -110c to -130c it was drinking a lot of LN2 and about froze my F1 up after a few hours of that.

Makes me wonder how much LN2 the F1 would suck down running a AMD chip at max LN2 temps :rofl

V2-V3 11-18-2009 09:24 PM

What batch is your 920?

Neuromancer 11-18-2009 10:39 PM

DFI LP, the GB UD4/5 the classified and the R2E are the only ones I can find breaking 222 BCLK is that correct? Man I should have paid more attention before I bought this E758 :(

DrNip 11-19-2009 02:41 AM

3845B027. It was the 1st batch from Tank Guys that people were calling people like me stupid for paying a mark up price on. :D

I run it everyday at 4.315ghz with only 1.258v. :D :D

V2-V3 11-19-2009 05:49 AM

dude you are one smart mofo!

DrNip 11-19-2009 05:57 AM

It was one of my better purchases in life. :D

DrNip 11-29-2009 07:33 AM

God I love this chip!

69_Goat 11-29-2009 07:52 AM

Damn, that is nice, DrNip!
How much more memory would it test if you stomp on the all button?

DrNip 11-29-2009 07:54 AM

Dunno. Haven't tried. I think the available memory I had was a little over 5,000 MB.

2chesapeakes 11-29-2009 12:28 PM

Very nice Nip m 975 maxes out at 4.1 on air due to temps and the volts are higher.

Neuromancer 11-29-2009 12:46 PM

Wow Nip, what kind of VTT/QPI you running to pull 6-6-6 at 1600+?

DrNip 11-29-2009 12:56 PM

+100 and its 6-6-5. :D

Neuromancer 11-29-2009 02:51 PM

lol my bad.

Very nice. Might have to see if these microns can pull that low a timing :)

DrNip 12-04-2009 01:14 PM

For shits and giggles I pushed it even further to see what it can do.

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...Stability2.png

Guess I'll keep going to see if I can hit 4.5ghz stable on air!!! :gun2:

DrNip 12-11-2009 11:17 AM

Well I guess I am missing benching as I am doing alot of stress tests lately. Anyways here is some comparison between HT on and off. I am liking it off as I can run a little lower volts at a whole lot of lower temps. Take a look at the difference between max temps.

On:

Off:
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...ability3_1.png
That's 71 degrees max at 4.420GHz!!!! Did I mention this is on air? :leghump:

Kal-EL 12-11-2009 11:28 AM

Wow, thats a serious difference in max temps  and thats not very much vcore too. I can't imagine the load on the F1 pot at higher volts with ht on.

DrNip 12-11-2009 11:32 AM

Makes me want to turn it off under the DICE next time I get the engine running. I never ran it off until just the other day.

Rocking the air on the chip and doing some preliminary runs with this 5870. Trying to get the hang of it before I murder the bot. Had to remember how to overclock again as I was a little rusty! :D

Witchdoctor 02-03-2010 04:43 AM

Good stuff man ....... Milk that 920 for all it's worth .....

Best bointer out there

Neuromancer 02-03-2010 04:58 AM

Yeah I am so going to have to go X58 again *sigh

Glad to see you back in action Doc

DrNip 02-03-2010 05:10 AM

I have a 960 but doesn't perform quite like my lil o 920. For now the 920 is going to net me the quick points with these cards. Later on I will sit down with the 960 and straighten her out on the clocks. Hopefully it isn't a flop like an i7 I got a hold of awhile back. :(
