OC Maximus 11-19-2011 03:26 PM

Try booting without a CPU then :P

kikicoco1334 11-19-2011 03:41 PM

dude not a single fuck is working on this board, i already called a buddy he may drop off a 780i evga off to me tonight

Mr.Scott 11-19-2011 03:53 PM

Watch your god dam language.
It's shorting some where. You just have to find it.

kikicoco1334 11-19-2011 04:15 PM

Sry man just kinda pissed, for the time it takes for me to find out where the short is on in the socket, I gonna have to use that 780i for now

kikicoco1334 11-19-2011 07:45 PM

I think this is God's way of saying "Fuck you too(u) you ain't gonna ever use the water cooler EVER!" the 780i is keep on having memory issues even if I change out different rams FML!

Neuromancer 11-19-2011 08:02 PM

Make sure you did not overtighten the block? LGA is not a big fan of being crushed.

kikicoco1334 11-19-2011 11:49 PM

Yeah, I monna look at that when i get up in the morning.....

the 780i is just will not boot pass C1 which is a memory issue

MaadDaawg 11-20-2011 06:10 AM

couple things.

several decades ago I was doing a build, and it wouldn't boot no matter what I did. This was back in the days of DOS, and switches, and jumpers... no PnP  FINALLY ended up elmer's glueing a paper washer on top of each standoff before I mounted the board. Started right up no probs - maybe that's where your short is too??

also, I have a full set of waterblocks for a 780i That I'd be willing to let you BORROW.... or buy DS LMK

Try the washers - they are made out of heavy dute paper that looks the same as shipping envelopes. MicroCenter has them. Prolly an ofice supply too. OR, hope depot sells nylon washers that would work.

Neuromancer 11-20-2011 09:03 AM

Yeah office supply stores carry them and they should be self adhesive. They are used to reinforce 3 ring binder inserts

kikicoco1334 11-20-2011 11:03 AM

this has become a huge disaster for me

Rich, you are right on me over tightening the block, but now the board is still showing C1 error time to time if i clear the CMOS long enough it'll give me the 1D error i am almost 100% sure it's the memory controller which i am FUCKED!!

no rig no fun for me! oh well RMA time!

MaadDaawg 11-20-2011 11:28 AM

Kiki, building a water cooled rig isn't a job....

It's an adventure :D

oh well...

gonna try fire up my i7 rig up again
trying to get ram from my friends :rofl
also looking for a cheap set of two (Frys got a set of 2x4GB from corsair for 24.99 after MIR)

kikicoco1334 11-20-2011 06:45 PM

and now i am trying to get it to boot with dual channel

gonna redo the bios real quick

kikicoco1334 11-21-2011 03:33 PM

Dear friends and family, Tu Fu came with another question.....

In the picture below is part of my rig's tubing, I was wondering why is some of my tubes are like retarded? you see the higher one it's got ziptie on it to keep it around and the one that's right below it is like flat...
Why is that?
It don't seem like it's effecting the cooling much but just wondering why the hell is it retarded like that how do i fix it?

I think it may have too much negative pressure in the loop and the tube is extremely soft
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/P1000089.jpg

MaadDaawg 11-21-2011 03:54 PM

Kiki,
That's usually a sign of too sharp of a curve, or, the tubing is torqued.

you need to make all your bends large enough do the hose doesn't collapse. As I remember, your tubing looked pretty good??

Sometimes if you tighten a tube to a fitting and then turn the fitting down tighter, the tubing is torgued, twisted, which can cause it to flatten. If you try to turn a hoses curve against the shape that it's used to being in can cause this too.

You can also get that spiral tubing support stuff - works, but I was never a fan of how it looked.

You got top of the line tubing so I'd guess you torqued them during installation ?

OC Maximus 11-21-2011 06:19 PM

Yep, negative pressure causing a rip in the time space continuum is whats causing your tubing to kink. :P

Neuromancer 11-21-2011 06:29 PM

If he got tygon tubing from what I understand it is very soft, I never used it myself. I just get the stuff from home depot, braided and really hard to flex lol

kikicoco1334 11-21-2011 10:36 PM

Just kind of a reference, for all the guys who have used PT Nuke in the past, how much did it came in the little bottle of yours? When my got here it was only half full....

Also, I popped the cap on the water res and released some of the pressure and replaced it with water and it don't seem too too bad now but that one tube still looks like handicapped

How the fuck did i forget about saying this...
Special thanks to OCMMM who's kind enough to supporting me with all the water gears, and thanks to all the oca members answering my n00b questions

Remember I posted one of the pix of my rig, and how it was running at 2800MHz ish and it's temp was like 60C idle, and 70/80C gaming (can't remember the number anymore but its around there)
Today, I got my full rig up and running and everything looks AWESOME! More importantly I got the little bastard running at 3375Mhz +/- 5% at 30C at start up 32~35C at idle and after 2hrs of black ops I was only around 48~50C

On the 8800GT it ain't lagging anymore, and it's overclocked from 600 to 700 on the core and 900 to 1150 on the ram (this is the POS ver from EVGA, N801 not the N802 or what ever the hell which one is faster and better overclockable)

Neuromancer 11-21-2011 11:27 PM

Nice going Fu.

I thought you bled your system already, so ignored your pump sucking your tubes thin lol. Again another reason not to use tygon or other softwalled tubing ;)

Im cheap though I would used softwalls too if I could afford it/got it free :)

MaadDaawg 11-22-2011 04:30 AM

Tygon is awesome tubing. Probably got the thin walled stuff instead of the thck walled stuff :P I've never had prolems with it :P

kikicoco1334 11-22-2011 10:41 AM

I ordered the thicker stuff, but they ran out of stock and i really wanted to play with it so kinda just said fuck it and went with the cheaper stuff instead

OH WELL!

just glad everything worked out great no leak so far gonna push the clock a little more to 3600ish and see what's up..

the 780i motherboard are really hot! i had to add a fan on the chip sets that's the hottest part of the case around 60C at all time

MaadDaawg 11-22-2011 10:59 AM

If you wanna use the chipset and mofset waterblocks, all ya gotta do is pay for the shipping  lmk via PM :D of course, you may need to re-plumb the system lol

kikicoco1334 11-22-2011 03:53 PM

Hmmm.....

kikicoco1334 11-24-2011 10:57 AM

Damn this computer!
Think i monna just sent the sum'bitch back to RMA.
It was working fine then I got home this morning and not a single thing works anymore...
FF......

MaadDaawg 11-24-2011 03:05 PM

Kiki, if you're on the 780i and it goes straight to FF, odds are good the board is shot

+1 Yup. It's a known issue.

kikicoco1334 11-24-2011 11:13 PM

Once again, FML!

I think it's cuz the NB/SB and VRM is too TOO hot, and prob burned something
Oh well, EVGA is closed this weekend but I monna give them a buzz monday morning or something and setup a RMA and go from there.

This board has been giving me prob non stop!

PhIlLy ChEeSe 11-26-2011 09:29 AM

I just read the last few pages, what pump you using Kiki? If its a variable you can slow it down, stop the tub from colapsing.

Great build log, put some spacers on them fans for better cooling.

Thanks mate, my pump is the MCP655 it does have a variable switch in the bad I'll try that when I get my board RMAed

THB for the 72hrs when it was running it ran REALLY well, about a little more than half of what the temp on air, and about 700mhz more overclocked

Need to RMA the ram, one of my video card and this board lol this is gonna be fun and my GPS

kikicoco1334 11-26-2011 12:41 PM

Rads look pretty sick Bro :D

kikicoco1334 11-26-2011 02:28 PM

Here is a better look at the rig, this was taken before I put it by the TV

MaadDaawg 11-26-2011 02:29 PM

only 1 fan on the lower rad?

Looks nice and clean though

kikicoco1334 11-26-2011 02:43 PM

Yeah, 1 fan on the lower rad is enough for what I use it for, wish i can pull up the temp for y'all, on the video card it's clocked at 700/1150(may be 1200) and CPU clocked at 3400/3500 playing black ops and nothing gos over 55 most the time video card don't even hit 50

Im surprised no one have given me shit for not having BD/DVD/CD drive yet

Mr.Scott 11-26-2011 03:02 PM

Put another fan on that rad and I won't.;)
