yeah you def need the vr, I start heaven at 1.4v let it climb to 1.43 in bench (test 9 or so) then keep tuning it down to 1.435v in bench (every 20 seconds or so it climbs to 1.45v lol)

Benching outdoors? Insulate the chil chip with a bit of eraser. I had to do this with a fussy R3E ES board when running in my benching chamber at around -25C. Works like a charm. Same issue guys were getting with boards plastered in eraser and the eraser chilling down the PCB and VRM contorller.

Patch 01-14-2011 11:42 AM

Al, you getting shutdown at 1.45v or just don't want it up there? I have some cards that won't tolerate more than 1.43 and some that will.

Chil, chil, chillin... I slapped a little heatsink on my R3E chil to warm it up.

then how is your chil chip getting cold? Are you pouring LN2 on the mosfets again?

With just a thin layer of vaseline on my 580 I can run fullpot all day long with just some frost building up on the backside of the PCB behind the GPU core.
