IMHO contests should be done with the most tweakable and funny rig, not necessarily with the newest platform.
I'm quite sure that many guys here still having a bloomfield CPU, so put a 4.5 GHz CPU clock cap, use single thread benchmarks (this way 980x or 920 doesn't make any difference) and have fun...that's alot better than a competition where only 2600k can compete IMHO.
i've both AMD, intel 1366 and intel 1155 stuff, i'm just saying this because 1155 sucks badly and is the less tweakable stuff.

BTW, i'm a guest here, so anything you decide is good for me. :)

Trust me ;)

BUT! You gotta make do with what feasible, not everyone will be happy with whatever the final parameters are, so I say just do whatever cuz A contest is better than NO contest.

+1

Well, I think that we should maybe make the contest like we think that we maybe want the contest to be you know, yeah. Thats what I think. My 2 cents :P

FurMark single GPU,,, :ohcrap:

Lets heat things up FTW ..................

Cap clocks low enough you don't have to be sub ambient to compete but high enough to make it fun

Ok guys after all of your feedback (thank you for that BTW) I think I am almost settled on a tried but True

Suiperpi 32M Contest....

4.5GHz Cap

this should put most rigs at a place where they can compete. Cooling is not an issue as 4.5GHZ can easily be had on many configurations for benching on Good air or water.

I am considering Having 2 classes AMD and Intel so that both sides have a fair shake.

This would dilute the prize pool a little as Thermaltake is providing the winning attendees prizes and having 2 classes to award may lower the total value for each winner but then again you guys are all Friends and im sure would like to see as many as possible of your teammates win something cool.

so were at the final stretch here just let me know if you would prefer one class or Intel/AMD split.

Also I am considering adding extra style prizes for having Thermaltake products in the pictures of your rig including a Thermaltake case/psu/cooler or Tt eSPORTS mouse/KB or whatever you may have from Thermaltake Family.

We would like to use the picture in future promo material if you guys have some cool Frosty or bench rig pics using a Thermaltake PSU or something of that sort would be awesome.

I have no probs either way, but, are there really that many AMD users among us ???

Lets find out if theres enough interest to split it.

I just want to make sure most importantly everyone has FUN

DrNip 07-19-2011 08:41 AM

I could compete in both. How long would it run for?

I think 30 days is more than enough time to tweak OS, bench, Tweak more..... RMA broken stuff and have fun....

rickss69 07-19-2011 09:14 AM

I'll do both for the fun of it. ;)
