Based on Global points we'd be 3rd right now, and only barely behind the Greeks. Think I'll be keeping my eyes open for a 4850 and 4870........

yep thats my target too.....lots of 2001 and 2003 benching for me...i'll wait for more monster hardware for the meantime :D

Patch 05-11-2010 05:02 AM

I don't know if you guys have noticed this, but the only team with more global + WR boints than us is PURE. It'll be a few years, but we'll take them too.

This team is deep. Real deep.

My personal goals are to crack 1200 global + HW this month and to hit top 20 by this summer.

Splave 05-11-2010 05:04 AM

 great goal patch

yeah man! more hw points! i still have hw that should be good:D for 60+ pts :D

globals are going down.........because the (some)sponsored guys in the top100 aren't getting much fermi sauce. lmao. they'll get them in time though.they sure had lots of gulptowns that intel likes giving away.

ReverendMaynard 05-11-2010 05:37 AM

6 months and OCA will be #1.

RomDominance 05-11-2010 08:20 AM

Kind of cool, as we talked about the "gravity well" we would create by committing to the merger. Guess it was kind of a no (know) brainer...thinking that once we became number one in the USA, we would grow exponentially...just never thought it would move this fast. This fleet is truly meant to be feared and respected. Lets just keep behaving like gentlemen (and lady) and keep letting our work ethic do the talking for us....great things on the horizon, great things.:cool3::clapping::cool3:

ReverendMaynard 05-11-2010 08:28 AM

^^ this is 100% true. Keep doing what we're doing and stay classy!

69_Goat 05-11-2010 08:38 AM

I was estimating, if we keep out scoring Pure by 500 - 1k per month ( as per trend ), we would catch them in about a year.

A bit optimistic I beleive as it does not take into account the inevitable surge once they realize we are for real .....

They may be here from time to time but with a 11K lead they have no reason to take us seriuously until we get closer. I am willing to bet once we do get with in stiking distance we will see a significant surge from Hellas and Pure as neither will go down as easily as some of the teams we have passed recently ....

Maybe wrong but I think a tremendous battle will insue once we secure third in the world ... from that point on we will be standing toe to toe with the best of the best.

It may very well come down to who is finaced better ... not nessecarilly the best and most skilled clockers ..... this is where sponsership could really make an impact.

Speculation of course

But one thing is a sure thing

It is going to be a hell of a ride ....................

Patch 05-12-2010 06:21 AM

It's interesting how my perception of this race changes.

Obviously, binning plays a role and access to nonexistant "ES" GPU's is a big advantage and a few guys will always have that edge. But it's starting to seem like access to mods and software to bypass limits/protections is much more important for the global boint game as a whole. When we obtain those it leads to an across the board surge for the team.

Witchdoctor 05-12-2010 06:34 AM

I agree Patch .... but numbers will rule ....

For instance ... we have what maybe 10 guys with 980x's and 480's

if they have 11 we will lose .... if they have 9 we will win

In the global arena at that level to boints are so close numbers will determin the outcome I beleive ....

the mods and software will be a must to compete on their p[laying field and make no mistake this war will be waged oin their turf ....

Question is how much factory/sponcership support will they recieve.. and what will be the resolve of said sponcers to insure a good old boys club victory ....

Lets face it if Intel Gigabyte and MSI gang up on us at the pinacle we will be chewed up and spit out .... Finacing a war against the manufatures would prove to be to demanding even for our richest members ....

thebanik 05-12-2010 07:35 AM

wow the more I see the enthusiasm, sportmanship and overall spirit of our top/all members the more I believe we can be at the top and be respected and feared by the rest of the world.

I agree with most of this, but as a "global" guy, most of our walls are CPU limits.
This is where binning means everything.

Don't really agree with much of this. With the latest revision, its not a rich boys sport any longer. Our team's standing depends on constant benching no matter what you have for equipment. Almost all of the older teams have 50% or more of their members inactive or awol.

Not only will constant participation from most of our members propel us, but it will also serve to lure active benchers away from inactive teams ie. Jor, Patch, Dom, ect... This will make us surge faster than anyone could have ever guessed.

Our global guys don't need sponsorship to succeed, but we do need better chips and gpus. This is where binning is essential. If we can get in front of the sponsored guys in some areas with a 6.5 980x, the sponsors will just grease the way to global golds....but they aren't essential.

punx223 05-12-2010 08:56 AM

I agree, not that having access to the rich boy parts doesnt help from a global standpoint, but overall just benching every piece of hardware you have in sight will net us benefits.

Witchdoctor 05-12-2010 08:57 AM

doe noe about that Rom

$ 1500 is the price of admission to compete Globaly now ... you know this as well as any as you have spent it... $ 1500.00 is a lot to some of us .... Throw in the pots and Ln2 consumption and the price of addmission keeps raising ....

Constant benching is in fact what got us to this level as well as you mention the intrest in top benchers from some other teams is a good observation and has helped tremedously. I hope this trend continues as there are so many great benchers out there....

I do agree the new platform is better at the bot, but to think finacial resorces do not still run this game may be a bit nieve IMO

It is all about the money in the Global game my friend, Binning as you mention takes a tremendous amout of resorces. What 10 980x's to find one that will do 6.5 ....maybee 20 .... serious cash my Romulan friend

I for one do not know how this is going to turn out, but it is going to be fun. I am sure of that ...........

RomDominance 05-12-2010 10:05 AM

I can't really discuss the topics effectively when the topics change from one post to the next....so I will summarize and leave it alone.

Global can be expensive, but many of us have far more than $1500 invested in our bench equipment, and many of those don't work globally.

A used 980x can now be had for the same amount as a used Xquad cost just months ago.

The key to being a top guy on this team is constant flipping of equipment, and the constant search for a better result through work ethic and better product. If you use the component and immediately sell it, you will stay liquid for the next big thing.

The team thrives from constant benching from as many members as possible on a consistent basis. We need to have our "global" guys to attract attention and lure possible recruits. Everyone on the team serves as an essential part.

The global guys will only succeed as much as the components allow them to. Yes mods and software are essential, but you will never catch a 6.5Ghz chip with a 6GHz one no matter how determined you are. Sponsorship might serve to increase our chances of finding a better component, but it will never happen if we don't continue to hunt for it in the interim.

Lastly, sitting in your race car discussing how to best run the race while most of the cars are 3/4's of the way around the track, doesn't sound like a good strategy to me. Those of us who are in the pack at the front, know what must be done to win this thing for us. The uber cool part is if you ask us for our opinion or tactics for victory, we will be more than happy to help you in any way we can. We know through experience what to do and what not too.

If it were me, I would stop talking and listen. If I wanted to know more about 2d I would approach Splave or Gutterz about it....CPUZ, Patch is your man....PCMark, Jor-El or Rick....3d=Dent, Duke or me....all of the above or just epic moral support, Kal is the bomb. Just pick your target, shut up, and get to work.;)

punx223 05-12-2010 10:41 AM

hey dont tell me to shut up..... ok ill shut up now...

well said brendan...

I plan on unleasing any bench I can on any hardware I can :)

let the chips/boints fall where they may...... but damned the rest.... if I have to bench on air.... so be it.... im still benching dammit.

Well put brudda. There are tons of killer points you hit in that post. First, global does matter. The good thing is that we have a mix of guys who cover both hw and global ends of the spectrum. Shut up and listen is some very good advice. We have guys who have proven success. Obviously they know something about what they are doing. The absolute best part is...... ding, ding, ding........ we are a humble, happy, giving group of overclockers who are willing to help each other out!!! Nobody here has too big of an ego to help the other guy out. That list for 2d & 3d is epic too. Some great benchers we have here. ;)

Megadittos SpliggityDiggity! There are so many great things about the guys we fly with. I take great comfort knowing that my friends have got my six. I also must add that our fleet seems to continually attract more and more great members who have the same drive for success and giving nature. It seems kind of cliche, but teams who play well as a team, always finish on top. We are blessed to have so many guys who understand that and a leader who nurtures it.

Jor-El 05-12-2010 02:49 PM

Gogogo oca

Well said  Reason I picked OCA right there!

In less then a month in OCA I had the chance to talk and meet with great members and just exchange ideas about our common passion without any bs or people asking for anything in return! This experience guys is unique.

Our team is so respectfully classy and willing to help people (even when they come from another forum and another team) that I said to myself that something must stink there BUT IT DIDN'T!

You guys make this sport look pretty and we all know that on a competing level this is hard to achieve.

Kudos to all members of OCA for keeping it real and making overclocking a fun and honest sport. :Hi:

Cheers for a team that fully understand the meaning of the word T-E-A-M

ReverendMaynard 05-13-2010 03:46 AM

Great to hear that Jor. Sucks to be the other teams that think otherwise about us but I think we like it that way :)
