Patch 11-23-2010 03:59 AM

Thanks for the offers guys and I may take you up on them, but heading out of town tomorrow to my sister-in-law's for Thanksgiving and won't be benching for a while anyway. You guys rock.

Here's what happened:
Blank screen, followed by an inexplicable and building sense of doom......then a loud pop and smoke from the PSU. It was set to 12.03v.

Hondacity 11-23-2010 04:18 AM

i'll send out the power meter aswell....

let us know when you're back...i don't have enough load to kill my psu :(

ocgmj 11-23-2010 06:19 AM

Patch is going to need a nuclear power plant to power his monster bench rig.

Trimmed the wires off when I was done. . connect pins 14 and 15 to 14 and 15 of the other. (green and black)

It does not have to be a good or high amperage connection. Just get the signal across.

Agree with that! 6.8ghz is a good DICE clock.

Better learn so one of us knows. If a tweak isn't in a Splave video already, I don't know it.

Hondacity 11-23-2010 05:54 PM

i saw some super efficiency .....at moa....with win7.....

splave time to rip win7 apart..... :D

Neuromancer 11-23-2010 06:07 PM

Nice. I actually didn't even need to raise vcore above what the board is capable of so you have a really good shot @ 7GHz without modding the board.........with the right chip ;)

Learn it on the TaiServer OS. It is efficient as all hell but can be a bitch to run sometimes.

I went through a nightmare install but got Tai running last night ...

The problem is it didn't outperform chuch's XP at all, less than 1s

Im having trouble setting maxmem in taiserver ... no option in msconfig and no boot.ini file to add the switch???

Manual wazza ftmfw though, getting comfortable with that.

DrNip 11-24-2010 06:32 AM

Hmmm, that's strange. For me it beat his OS by 20 seconds on 32m.

DrNip 11-24-2010 03:22 PM

Well complete failsauce tonight. Wasted about 10 maybe 15 liters until I finally quit. Was trying out a different 352. 1st off my temp meter blows balls. Wouldn't go past -130. So I never really knew what temp I was at. I felt so blind when I hit that -130 wall. CBB seemed to be all over the place. -54, -68, -78 and even a -95!!!??? I really think it was the cheap ass temp meter pooching me the whole time. It was just too damn hard to clock with. Managed a 6.9ghz and that was it. Complete waste of my time, money and energy. Now I have 10-15 liters in the garage that are going to be wasted due to not having a working temp meter. When I get the money, going with a Uei as my last one never let me down. Sick of these cheap ass ones and sick of these failed missions.

Well, I'm envious of your temperatures to say the least. Failed missions or not, your temps make me want to start drinking.

DrNip 11-24-2010 03:37 PM

Going to try to rake together some funds next week for a new temp meter.

Kal-EL 11-25-2010 06:05 PM

Oh mang, I got knocked below 500 boints, I hope this weekend lends me some bench time :)

Any word from big bird on WTF hwbot plans to do Dec 1st?

Patch 11-26-2010 10:57 PM

Dunno Supes, but it's frustrating to try and bench. Couldn't even submit 06 tonight cause it said there is a new version and I need to download it......doing that now at snail pace.

2X580 has been a mixed bag tonight. Good news is that I'm liking my CPU more and more. Bad news is that I couldn't get SLI recognizably enabled in GPUZ in XP. PITA mainly because I was stuck benching everything in Win7 64 (unless I wanted to waste yet another evening troubleshooting and reinstalling crap.....which I did NOT). Made for crappy efficiency, particularly in 06 CPU tests done at 6 GHZ :), but still fun.

Holy crap thats aweful cpu efficiency. Meh, least your pourin juice bro, more than I can say for myself lately :Dizzy:

Splave 11-27-2010 05:19 AM

Patch what do you run CPU test at

Dentlord 11-27-2010 05:23 AM

7 is fail for cpu test in 06, in xp that would've been 14k

Patch 11-27-2010 05:56 AM

Yep. 7 was crapola for the cpu test. Couldn't get GPUZ to recognize SLI in XP for some reason so did some 7 benches. Was only planning on benching AM3 on Win7, but I couldn't get into task manager and set priority. Gotta figure out how you guys set priority ahead of time and start doing that.....

Anyway, since AM3 wasn't working out I just ran the benches I had installed. Vantage was corrupted...gonna have to reinstall. 06 CPU test was at 6 GHZ . That score is gonna rock when I do it on XP and can get some real CPU test numbers going.

After you start AM3, alt+tab out and then run task manager and set priority and make sure affinity is all cores (should be already if you renamed the exe file)

Patch 11-27-2010 06:37 AM

I've renamed file so cores are always good. Problem is priority. Frequently, when opening task manager it won't let me into the desktop with am3 running. Haven't figured out why. Doesn't do that with fresh installed windows as much. Maddening.

Going to single card next to work out all these damn bugs.

Thats weird.

ocgmj 11-27-2010 08:08 AM

Ctrl+shift+esc will open task manager also.

Splave 11-27-2010 08:21 AM

I've never bothered with changing priority for aq3 I'm usually so far on the edge of stability wheb I run it minimizing I would probably freeze

Patch 11-27-2010 08:52 AM

Task manager opens, am3 just won't let me see the desktop to do anything with it.

I've had this happen several times. I don't remember what OS I was using as it has been over a year now since I have benched 3D.

OC Maximus 11-27-2010 11:10 AM

Fought my way up the OCA Ranks this month to #21 spot. My goal was to try and make the top 20 by the end of the month but I'm still waiting on hardware to come in. Maybe next month ;)

Go Team Go!!!!
