*Not so much gaming anymore I feel your pain... High scores are meaningless anymore. Unless they count for something :) :Hi: My favorite games are Wprime and superpi, with a little Pifast thrown in now and then. I hope to someday understand the Futuremark series... because lets face it, that is where the big gamers play, but that requires a lot of expensive equipment unfortunately. But like me, you can keep upgrading your controllers if you pay attention. :clapping: ScrappyCoco... it is all good :) Thanks for being here and pushing and pushing like you do :Hi: I know exactly how you bench. I do the same damn thing. Bench what you got, and push till another botter goes down :) We may not compete with the big dogs.. .but we do what we can with what we got... and that is the overclockaholics way. Believe me... it has been said enough times by the big dogs here.. if you have not seen it.. Every boint counts. |
Hey everybody. Nice energy you've got going on here.
Nik: Patch My brief tech history: 70's: Atari. (At friend's. We never had one). Early 80's: Arcades. Quarter on a string led to endless Joust. 1986-1994: Brother word processor/typewriter. Swore off video games. 1995-1999: Used Unversity computers at grad school. Still swore off video games. 2000: Bought first computer so my wife and I could hop on the interwebs. 2005: Bought Age of Mythology on a whim. Tried a few more games. 2007: Upgraded RAM in my Dell. Felt pretty proud of myself. 2008: Upgraded to an 8800GT in that same Dell. Felt real proud of myself. July, 2008: Realized that I have 3 kids that will one day be teenagers. Looked at our friends with teenage kids and noticed that they knew far more about computers than their parents. Started to think about what sort of content there is online.......:scared: Figured I better finally learn how to use these things FAST so I'm not stuck in the dark. Decided to build my own. E8400 + P5Q Pro. Sept, 2008: Heard about overclocking, so tried it. Promptly bought an aftermarket heatsink. Jan, 2009: Decided I needed an i7 for the interwebs. Figured I should take the custom watercooling plunge. Fun. Bought a dremel. Summer, 2009: Got a DICE pot from Duniek. Got mad at my Bloodrage baseclock issues. Heard about the PCIE mod and bought a soldering iron. Never soldered anything before, but when I get an itch I scratch it. :D -80 started to seem kinda warm, so............dewar time. Do I sound addicted? |
Hi Patch :welcome:

Nick- Kow_ciller (you can call me kow, or Dex)
I'm a soon to be 3rd year college student. My main hobbies are PC gaming, and of course overclocking. I've been building computers since I was 9, and been benching since I was 12. Started benching with my Athlon 1ghz and radeon 8500 that I volt-modded and made a custom cooling setup on it. At the moment I'm rocking a P55 platform, and bought 775 setup and a Dragon Evo pot so I can go cold over the summer. Up until a year or so ago, I would mostly overclock for fun, or get a higher FPS in my games (which I still do to some extent) but since hwbot changed and I actually have points I've been addicted with it. |
Welcome Kow.
