I'm a soon to be 3rd year college student. My main hobbies are PC gaming, and of course overclocking. I've been building computers since I was 9, and been benching since I was 12. Started benching with my Athlon 1ghz and radeon 8500 that I volt-modded and made a custom cooling setup on it. At the moment I'm rocking a P55 platform, and bought 775 setup and a Dragon Evo pot so I can go cold over the summer. Up until a year or so ago, I would mostly overclock for fun, or get a higher FPS in my games (which I still do to some extent) but since hwbot changed and I actually have points I've been addicted with it.

Sounds familiar lol !

Welcome aboard dex :toast:

aspms* 06-05-2010 08:54 AM

Here I am probably the first Team OCX member here :D

Just saying hello and thanks to Splave for helping out with registration

I cut off benching for about two years and now I"m back since March and started with some budget CPU grinding and collecting some oldschool GPUs which need to be modded and punished soon. So I was looking for vmods but unfortunately best place with such info- vr-zone database was down :ohcrap: So I started searching other forums and after seeing your growth in hwbot rankings decided to check it out.

Didn't find much info about vmods I needed here but in general I'm quite impressed what you have achieved in such a short period of time- so far I really like your forum structure and team spirit. I guess I'll drop in here as regular as our local and OCX forum

regards, Austris (I doubt you can pronounce my real name right as it isn't typical English :D)

Real name: Chris Barton

Profession: Student, Editor-in-Chief at IT trib

Hobbies: Fishing, boating, overclocking, benchmarking, distributed computing, sports

Benchmarks: I haven't competitively benched since socket A

Current HW: Always changing

Preferred SW: Linux and open source, but for gaming XP or Win 7 all the way

About: I'm going to medical school on a free ride from UPMC [a Pittsburgh based insurance company] once I finish undergrad, I just found out a few weeks ago so it's pretty exciting news for me. Other than I'm a pretty normal person aside from the crazy hardware obsession.

I should also disclose that I am owner / editor of IT trib. Did you already guess that IT trib is another tech news / reviews site? Well, you're right! I'm involved in this thread regarding an interview with Philly_Boy, and I would like to thank all the warm welcomes I've received in that thread already. Thanks folks!

It's good to have an overclocking world "watchdog" on the scene.

Thx :). It's nice to be appreciated. In fact, the name It trib is derived from a sort of Roman protector. Merriam-Webster definition here. I'm just here to keep people honest :keeporder:

Haha, I will. I was referring to shady marketers and scam artists, NOT members of this community.

That very well may be so. But can someone tell me, is benching like riding a bicycle?

IDK if it's anything like riding a bike.... I look at it like a bad cocaine habit:

All you want is more, sleep isn't necessary, and sometimes you would rather do that than eat. When you get a good bench session in, the high lasts for what feels like forever, but if you have a bad one, you want to beat the dealer with a bat. Or something along those lines...

:laughing::laughing::D
