Planning 1st LN2 party this weekend.
 

I have the F1EE and my board is well insulated. What else MUST I get for this to go properly?

I'll be able to read up about how to pour the LN2 and stuff during the week and am definitely open to any suggested reading material.

many people don't teach this....but you must learn the "glaze" method....numero uno technique.... and of course bernzomatic yellow tank with ts8000 top....and paper towels+ rubber bands.... make sure motherboard backside is sealed or insulated...

my first pot was a Thermaltake BlueOrb that i still use as a 478 CPU fan with zipties
so i really don't have any room to talk... (yeah yeah i know what the hell is wrong with this dude...)



A LOTTA THINGS!

You MUST have a k-type temp probe and meter so you can watch temps... Extech EA10 is a favorite temp meter.

Any vaccuum insulated coffee carafe or pitcher will work for pouring. You can get them at wal-mart or target etc...

The "Glaze" technique Honda mentioned helps speed up temp drop immensely, here is how I do it...
1. Pour the pot down to ~ -75c
2. Torch the inside, focusing on the holes, until its solid white (usually 10-15 seconds or so)
3.Resume pouring and watch the temps fly :)

Torch it...like with a torch? The center of the pot?

I have a k-type, but a cheapo so I don't know how far it will read to. Specs say -50 C only.

I also have a nice insulated carafe from the previous coffee pot.

...ohh and a propane torch for soldering pipes etc...will that work?

Propane will work but its slower than mapp

Yeah torch the inside of the pot to glaze it. It will turn white as a layer of moisture hard-freezes on the copper.

don't waste ln2....

first rule: check cold bug....see if the cpu likes cold.....thats why the thermometer with a k type thermoucouple is a requiem...

cold bug changes with different reasons: vcore/qpi/thermalinterface/motherboard/cpu_batch

So I have to bite the bullet and buy a good k-type thermometer that goes all the way to -200 C.

Heh.....if I pour it in there and after awhile it stops running, I guess it doesn't like the cold.

lots of el cheapo thermometers....if you have a good pot already....getting a good thermometer is the only way....
