How much rad for 2 GTX 480's and oc'ed 980X ?

This is my first post here as Ive been "out of the loop" for a while with watercooling:D

The temps on my cpu have been a bit too high at 4.2 GHz with the GTX 480 sharing a triple fan rad.
I have space for another dual fan rad, which I wanted to add inline on the single loop. I would run the line in this order: rad -> gpu's -> rad -> cpu -> reservoir -> pump.

The triple handles the temps pretty well for the cpu and very well for the gtx 480.
GPU 60 c @ load
CPU 85 c @ load
I use 80-90cfm fans and a high flow swiftech MCP 655 pump ( 317 Gph ).

How much radiator are you using on your rigs?

This is my Cosmos server case with prior QX9650 and ATI HD 3870's

I would venture to say not many here use radiators for much of anything here Jungle - It's all about short maximum effort blasts here with LN2/Dice probably being employed most of the time...not exactly a 24/7 solution.

for 24/7 dual 480 rads...or tripple tripple...

Hey Jungle, welcome back to OCA. I would have to say that two separate loops are a must in your system. Order of components in those loops won't matter at all as the entire loop reaches an average temp quite quickly. I would put the 980x on the dual rad and the 480's on the triple. I still run the "Warbird" for gaming and day to day stuff and it still is running strong after two years with a similar set up to what you have or are striving to get. Here is a pic

As much as I like freezing stuff, water loops are still an integral part of my overclocking.

My main rig and the kid's rig are both watercooled and the benching station always has a couple of loops with 3-6 blocks (CPU, NB, GPU's) mounted on it for cooling whatever needs to be cooled.

90cfm from a 25mm fan won't get you near the performance of a 38mm because of less static pressure.

Likewise, a thinner rad is different than a GTX or a feser xchanger.

Also depends a lot on your overvolt and OC. Overvolted 480's (and 980x of course) put out WAY more wattage than stock.

I agree with Rom that a double + triple rad are fine, and loop order doesn't matter. But I don't think you need 2 loops. Your single 655 will handle 3 blocks and and 2 rads fine. My 24/7 with a single 655 pump has done fine with 120+480 rads, CPU block, full chipset block (classified), and 2 GPU blocks without a hiccup.

Just posted this elsewhere too, but since it's germain to this discussion. Classy 769 w/ Core i7 at 4.5 w/ chipset and mofset blocks. Other loop, 1 5970.

Each has it's own Feser Quad and each stay near or at ambient room temp

May be Fugly but it gets the job done :D
