can a motherboard get too cold?
Or maybe a PSU...................
I had my system all set up out on the back porch, under cover but outdoors, and once it got really cold after about an hour of being out there running it started having random shutdowns. And by shutdown I mean like it was unplugged. It would power back on if I hit the button and shut down again after a few seconds. It's been back inside running normally for almost an hour now. Strange or no? It was -1C on the back porch. |
Yes, mobo's will absolutely cold bug.
-1C seems pretty warm for that be happening, though. |
Temps that low is hard on hdd's too. You might want to find a way to keep your HDD a little warm while doing the outdoors stuff.

Something was definitely bugging out and causing the power to cut out. The board overclocks like a bastard indoors. I just popped in my new Opteron 154 and cranked it to 3400+MHz on only 1.55v. I am quite impressed with the chip.

Well what you are describing isn't due to the HDD's. I was just trying to give you words of warning that too cold of temps = really bad on HDD's. You could have just CB'd the board or something else.
|
Are you running off an extensioin cord or sumtin?
But yah, you can cb a board for sure. |
I was running off a probably inadequate extension cord....the system and the monitor. I didn't have a problem with that before though.
I put the board out there to pre chill for awhile before I hooked anything up, and it ran fine for about an hour maybe less. |
:) I'm pleased to announce I just churned out the #2 all time overclock on the DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-DR.
When is the bot going to update their list and give me my 8.5? Usually that happens immediately. |
usually they are slow lol, but it will eventually work
|
How come I didn't get any points? I got 1 point for #3 cpu overclock, but I got 0 points for #2 motherboard overclock. That's bullshit.
