To Vaseline or Not Vaseline?

That is my question. Tired of eraser and looking at Vaseline this time. Looks like it lays down quicker and get in nooks and crannies better. I am aware of the mess but is there any other downside?

Hell NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the answer :D

That stuff gets everywhere and I've had some funky memory issues on two different boards with vaseline. I went back to the trusy eraser.

ROFL. What happens if I don't get it in the RAM slots?

Vaseline the whole damned thing it wont hurt anything but you will never get that shit off man.... once its there its there for good man.... so commit to it..... err how do they say it.... Shit or get off the pot when it comes to Vaseline.

i know eraser is a pain to apply but its just better imo.

Ill never use vaseline again.

i use a well cutted foam of neoprene on the motherboard and eraser sometimes on the back side of the grapics cards.
no vaseline or that kind of crap on my boards :D

Have used Vaseline for a long time, but really its a pain to clean(not that eraser is easy to remove). Have received Acrylic Lacquer recently, and might/would try it with my next board.

Mobo is prepped with eraser. This Gene-Z looks like it would be easy to just cut a piece of neoprene unlike some other mobos.

Vaseline is a tool, not a religion. It has its place.

Hate it and it's a PITA, but I still put it in PCIE slots. And sometimes in DIMM slots.

I just received my 20 blocks of eraser from dickbink.com. They've changed brands so not sure if this will be as soft as the Artist brand they used to carry - name on package is "prismacolor"

Anyway, I always use eraser and haven't found it difficult to remove in the least. I use vaseline ONLY on the PCIe slot that I have a frozen GPU card plugged into, and eraser to the pcie slot next to it. Then cover the area with frost king.

I use rolled up eraser to cover the unused DIMM slots but I do not vaseline the DIMM slots unless I bolt my KPC DIMM Pot on them.

FWIW

It's not that it is difficult to remove as that is the easiest I was just looking for something less time consuming on the prep as well as better coverage. Not that eraser takes too long, I just think Vaseline would slap down like butter on bread.
