[Build log]Up coming temptat TEC
I have always found TEC based cooling very interesting but seems like every time i tried it I don't do good enough of a job and break something http://tpucdn.com/forums/images/smilies/shadedshun.gif
Most of the time it's because didn't have the proper cooling for the hot side. Now since I've got more hardware on hand I'd really like to try again. Here is my check list. 3x Swiftech 3x120mm Rad 1x MCP-655 Water pump 1x Water Block for both 1366 and 775 Swiftech GTZ 2x 136.8W Peltier 40mm x 40mm (that's the smallest i can find that's got the most power) 1x Corsair 430W Power supply I am thinking about putting those 2 TEC peltiers back to back hooking it up in series. Having the second peltier cooling the first one and having the water block cooling the second peltier. Now i am just wondering how should i power everything? I am thinking about having the 24-pin or one of the 6-pin GPU cable to power them. Really not thinking about modding or changing the physical appearance of the PSU. One of y'all showed me a pix where the water stuff is in another box, i kinda wanna do that. just try it out see what's up |

don't put sandwich plate TEC,
use them single, dual stage tec is not good on direct die cooling, only for small things like led's and lasers. Use single TEC more power, 136w is not enough for cpu. you need something that can cool down the cpu, and a cpu gives overclocked like say 250w, so you need to cool down that. Use a minimum of 226w TEC or 260w 50x 50 or 40x40mm. And cool that down with good watercooling. Look here in dutch from me : Chiller's Custom TEC on air chiller's custom TEC and offcourse Hybrid TEC cooling, where tec is cooling down the liquid as i use now in my rig Level 10 |
Holy balls bro! that thing looks amazing!
wish i asked you this before ordering those damn things... you sir have a PM coming your way :D |
i thought it would be info you can use in my old buildlogs.

thanks mate, that really helped a lot

ok it's been 2+ week the damn stuff finally got here, and had my buddy come over with his power supply and here are some pix :good:
I'd turn the 430W on first that only powers the TEC and 2x 120mm fans I'd normally hook up my temp gauge but for now there is too much stuff on the table http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...2/P1000409.jpg Here is the setup  http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...2/P1000406.jpg With only TEC and the Fans on http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...2/P1000408.jpg |
pics of the block?
Temps under load ? |
block? this is water cooled for now, i am working on the thing metal between the cpu and the tec.
i monna use Al for testing right now cuz Cu is a little out of my budget atm. i am aiming for around 2~3mm for that part. today is just a quick test nothing special about it... since the cooler don't have the right mount i had to use my hand to hold the cooler so it not gonna move around. here is a picture of what most likely gonna be the ending product (water block is taller than that) http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...deas_Final.png |
i have copper here 40 x 40 x 10mm if you need some?
