Very nice! This thing was made by sdumper. Very nice unit mate! Looking forward to the numbers!

Kal-EL 08-20-2009 04:29 AM

Cherry arse pics bro, them 4890's are pwnage! I can't wait to see how well the 2stager performs as well :D

DrNip 08-20-2009 05:14 AM

Nice. I was eyeballing this unit the other day. Great buy. Looks like you are going for the gold with four of those cards.

Gunslinger 08-20-2009 05:27 AM

I don't know about gold, but should earn some nice points. Since my cards are not reference they are not able to run the "good" bios that unlocks the big clocks. I'll still be limited to around 1000 core and 1100 on memory.

DrNip 08-20-2009 05:30 AM

Way to down play gunny! LOL. Either way nice setup and looks like you'll pick up some nice points especially being able to get your cpu colder now.

punx223 08-20-2009 05:38 AM

mike be sure to solder up the molex to the 24 pin if running those 4890's in quadfire or you WILL burn up your 24 pin connector.

BTW i have one of that same exact 4890 :good:

Bitchen cascade bro, looks quite nice.... cant wait to see loaded temps

DrNip 08-20-2009 05:40 AM

Yeah I was just reading a thread on that at XS yesterday. Can't seem to find it now.

sofos1990 08-20-2009 05:45 AM

Here it is:)

Buckeye 08-20-2009 05:50 AM

Nice Cascade Gunny

I am interested to see how it performs cool2

Kal-EL 08-20-2009 05:57 AM

Gunny molexed his Classy the other day, like a expert Hard Modder Champ. fight12

Gunslinger 08-20-2009 06:27 AM

 Also picked up another HX1000 to deal with the load. Now my hardware budget is officially shot until Jan 2010. I kind of wish I had used a heavier guage wire, but hope this will hold up.

Looks great Gunny

Is you heat sink there on right, it looks tilted.

punx223 08-20-2009 07:01 AM

yes the HS is tilted if he bends it straight he may see some better NB temps

Check out RBE, you might be able to mod it yourself :)

Dang, having to add power to the 24pin thats hardcore man. Doesn't the classified have one of those 4 pin Hard drive connectors up by the PCIe Slots?

Grats on the cascade, looks real nice :)

Sure doesn't. Maybe next rev will have adequate power supply. Shannon, tell Sham to get crackin' I'll be a beta tester. cool2

No they do not have the 4 pin molex above the slots

RomDominance 08-20-2009 01:40 PM

Very kewl, we were all drooling over that unit that SD built.....quite a few WMD's in your pics Gun, gl bud.

Gunslinger 08-21-2009 03:49 AM

Kind of stuck, hooked it up last night for some testing. Was in the middle of a driver change when the pc shutdown. Now getting instant "FF" and can't get it to clear.

Kal-EL 08-21-2009 03:51 AM

ohcrap

spfoam1 08-22-2009 03:03 PM

What a freakin nice looking toy Gunslinger.

Gunslinger 08-22-2009 05:11 PM

3 motherboards down, time to reload I guess. I think I have a PSU issue...

Kal-EL 08-22-2009 05:13 PM

Dayum, super punt that PSU for killin 3.

punx223 08-22-2009 05:19 PM

i thought the thermalbake died?? did the HX too?

Gunslinger 08-23-2009 03:16 AM

Using the HX on my REX and the 790i results in CPU INIT on the REX and "FF" on the 790i.

The TT PSU had a burnt smell to it, so its definately toast. The HX was tied in there with it when it croaked though, wonder if it was wounded as well...

DrNip 08-23-2009 05:18 AM

When in doubt a PSU problem don't use it as you stand the chance of toasting other hardware.

Gunslinger 08-23-2009 06:57 AM

I'll have another HX1000 on Tuesday to test my theory. Just hope the REX and 790 are ok. I'll have to double check the classified as well. Might actually be alright

spfoam1 08-23-2009 07:01 AM

I pity anyone with toasted hardware. The financial loss is bad enough. The time lost is devastating. The latest and greates hardware is antiquated junk in a few months.
I went through several TT PSUs that should have been more than adequate for the job. I fried a 750 and two 1200s. Mobo, RAM, and GPUs died along with the PSUs. In my opinion TT is extemely sensitive and easily toasted. Overload protection doesn't seem to exist. I'll never use one again. My PCP&C 1200 is still smiling and defiant after considerable beatings and waterboardings. It begs for more. I wish they would quit screwing around and make a 240v 2000w model.

Neuromancer 08-23-2009 07:19 AM

No thermaltake PSUs. Been my mantra since I got one that was 4 or 500W with a 40AMP 5 volt rail :p;

Personally, I do not like the corsair units either, but they review very well.

Gunslinger 08-23-2009 07:36 AM

I've had decent luck with my TT, and was shocked to have an RMA number within 30 minutes of submitting my RMA claim.

I'll be looking for alternatives though for sure come January when my hardware budget starts over. I'm stuck with what I have until then.

karmakazi 08-24-2009 09:35 AM

gunslinger holy @#$%$ you should post this over @ pure forums too man. That cascade is diesel. Cant wait to see you crankin out huge points :D

punx223 08-24-2009 09:43 AM

suckos about your board (s) bro... drop me a line later on and I will help ya out with the board :morpheus:

Gunslinger 08-24-2009 01:11 PM

I hope to find out for sure about the boards tomorrow when the new HX1000 shows up. Till then cross your fingers and say an OC'ers prayer.

RomDominance 08-24-2009 04:48 PM

+6 on the PCP&C turbo cool 1200.....I've got two as well as MadDawg, GFDuke and Rick love theirs as well.....There simply the best imho....
Sorry bout your probs bro.....sucks.

Neuromancer 08-25-2009 06:03 AM

Man -100 on a phase cooler. that is just sweet :)

Buckeye 08-25-2009 07:34 AM

Mines doing -111.7c unloaded, but holds about -106c on idle.

With very heavy loads I have seen it drop to the -80c's but recovers back to the -90c's on long tests.

Example...

With the AMD 965BE I was running, I would be sitting at -106c at idle
Fire up wPrime 1024 and I could tell when it would crash by watching the temps, that would be around -78c.

Keep in mind I was pushing that chip very hard and it has an incredable amount of heat output.

Gunslinger 09-06-2009 05:22 PM

Update. Played a little with some low voltage testing today. Unfortunately, it is very humid here, and I had to stop testing due to condensation issues. But here are a couple shots that show today's progress. I believe 5.1GHz is doable for both benches with a slight bump in VTT only.

Kal-EL 09-06-2009 05:23 PM

:thumbsup:Just as I thought homie, nice!

Buckeye 09-06-2009 05:31 PM

Very nice !

So what was the loaded & loaded temps ?

Gunslinger 09-06-2009 05:32 PM

It never budged from -97.5

I should have taken this route as soon as I got the cascade, but was eager to beat on it.

With my previous method, it would still only drop to -94 or so on 1.6V during CPU testing.
