Cheaters or AWESOME tweakers?

http://hwbot.org/community/user/walhalla

THis guy I noticed on older hardware consistently scores 33-50% more than 2nd place

Despite the fact he uses outdated hardware even OEM PCs running stock clocks?

Not sure how he did it .. .but a 2.4GHz pentium 4 dell box running a stock radeon 7000 score 50% more points than 4+ GHz i7s and 200 core?

Dunno :Dizzy: but I noticed he does this on a lot of older hardware. His newer stuff not as good. Whether it is because he is cheating and using low visibility hardware or the tweaks he uses are only good for relics.

Just blows me away though

There is something about old hardware that even I am not able to figure out, I use old drivers used by category leaders, win xp sp3, all known tweaks, but most of the time even with much higher CPU speeds and clocks on the graphic card I lag behind, had happened to me for quite a good cards.....for this case, we have never benched for the same category, hence have never checked his scores, will try and see if there is something evidently fishy going on.....

Edit : Most of his 3d score have a valid verification link, you cannot point a finger on him.

Neuromancer 11-18-2009 09:13 PM

Well valid futuremark link does not mean that much.
If it did, why would hwbot have to specify no wireframe hacks etc?

I happen to have a HP pentium 4 system sitting next to me. Guess it is time to throw the 7000 in there and see if the arch makes any differnce :)

Hmm perusing the ORB and the bot.

Ahh i figured it out :)

He is reporting an AGP card as a PCI :)

He has been reported.

EDIT: Futuremark links was what tipped me off actually. Since it was run on an HP/Compaq D330 desktop :) running a 2.4 GHz+ Pentium 4 processor and having an AGP slot :) (not saying an AGP slot means he was not using a PCI card but the numbers match up very well for a all stock AGP 7000 system)

Looking through some of his other submissions I do not think it was an accident either.

I get the feeling alot of these guys run dual cards for single card submissions by disabling dual cards before taking the screenshots.

yup, i reported 1 yesterday, but isnt it easy to notice??? Crossfire/SLI available is always shown in GPUz in these cases.......

Kal-EL 11-18-2009 11:28 PM

Doesn't it just say "Enabled" "Disabled"?

Neuromancer 11-18-2009 11:41 PM

Yah, notice a lot of people do NOT post screenshots though.... I hate that

Which reminds me gotta flip all my PNGs to JPG tomorrow. For some reason they come all pastel colored in Opera and nonexistant in IE (I mean the submitted ones, they all work fine on my pc)

Atleast the latest versions say "Disabled (Crossfire Available)".

thats just crossfire... sli just lists enable/disabled....

not to mention i have been guilty of disabling sli then running instead of removing a card, so that makes it even harder to track down...

then again ive never been 40% higher than 2nd place so no reason to be suspicious

In the end they know they cheated and if they did what personal satisfaction could they possibly have other than knowing they are just cheating bitches.

The Boints arn't the only thing in the game... it is being able to compete against the best in the world that is fun.....

Neuromancer 11-19-2009 11:40 AM

Well I can't compete with the best, so people that cheat on the low level piss me off :)

You are exactly correct. We've found quite a few cheats over there. Some fairly big names too. They turn a blind eye to it, pending who you are. That's why you shouldn't take HWB too seriously. Keep it competitive, but most of all, keep it fun.
