Corsair Obsidian 800D Case

Anyone seen these or have one? If so what did you think of it?

I saw one at Frys the other day and it looked pretty nice.... heavy as hell. The main thing I was wondering about is will it hold 4 GPUs cause it has 7 slots with a vent below the 7th slot. Seems like I saw somewhere that it took 9 slots.

Anyways... any thoughts?

That case should hold pretty much whatever you want, plus extra room for a dead hooker or two.

I'm sure that there are other cases of the same size that cost a little less though.

Less than the hooker? :Dizzy:

FACE 01-15-2010 12:44 PM

Uh....no. If they are dead, then obviously they weren't paid..... :ohcrap:

Neuromancer 01-15-2010 12:51 PM

LOL yeah dead hookers are cheap anyway... it's getting rid of them that can be expensive ;)

But the 800 is a nice big case but not too many people are building cases for 4 way SLI /CF

Here is a short list of cases compatible with 4 285s

Quote:

Lian Li PC-P80
Lian Li PC-P80R
HEC 98 98R9BB
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000SNA
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BWS
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNS
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNSB
Thermaltake ArmorPlus VH6000BWS
Mountain Mods Acension w/ Modular Motherboard Tray 10 PCI Slot
Xigmatek CPC-T75UB-U01
those are cases that hold the e762.

Obsidian wont hold 4 dual slot cards.

Just get the Easy+Hard V2.5 Dimas bench table. The new revision is made to acomodate 4-way SLI. It is watercooling friendly, bling bling, functional, and perfect for going sub-zero. Pretty much........ I want one :)

Wheres the linky? I want one!

Gunslinger 01-15-2010 02:11 PM

Don't think they're officially released yet.

Chilledpc.uk carries Dimas products normally.

Jeffro64 01-15-2010 02:30 PM

What about the 58XX cards.... I haven't seen one, are they dual slot cards?

That's another thought.....:D

DrNip 01-15-2010 03:01 PM

Forget a case. They get in the way as well as are for rookies. Get a bench table, table, piece of wood, cardboard or even a tv tray but don't get a case.

Well... I have the HSPC, just need a better one I guess. Dimas may be the way to go.

Neuromancer 01-15-2010 04:06 PM

If you dont mind going rugged you can always build your own bench table for a few bucks.

Or contact Navig over at OCF to build you one.

DrNip 01-15-2010 04:09 PM

If you have the money go for the Dimas.

Gutterz 01-15-2010 04:19 PM

Im suprised no one has made a table out of a rack mount server case. Mount the board on top all other hardware is in the case in proper spots. Some server cases hold 2 psu too. You could even have a board in the case also. single case 2 system rack. I plan to attempt the mod one day.

Table or desk?

http://overclockaholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=879

Original idea was the right pedestal would hold 2 server chassis and an AV receiver. Drawer was an after thought.. and right now I have no PC in there LOL

Oh and I finally got a server case for mounting in it! But apparently the size spec you see posted everywhere INCLUDES the siderails.. so need to rebuild my desk :(

I want one for my new SS adventure.....Now to find a ss builder...I have ask one with no reply yet......

If you can link to where they have these????

Neuromancer 01-15-2010 09:38 PM

They are not available yet which is why I suggested building a cheapie bench table for yourself :) Aesthetics are great... but there is a lot of satisfaction to be had to having done it yourself as well :)

Chuchnit 01-15-2010 11:03 PM

Well crap. The other day he had white listed as in stock, but not any more. He should have these ready any day though. The table is a little expensive, and shipping isn't cheap, but imo its worth more than any case that cost the same. Atleast for what we do.....

Heres My "Home Brew" and
the "Bancheto 101" table.

The bancheto is a killer aestethics table, just beautifull but not really suited to quick change extreme overclocking. I've modified my Bancheto to serve my desires. I really want the Dimas table tho.

How are the HTPC's guys? these ones..... HSTS <----It's cheap and the top deck "Larger" model seems like it'd accommodate bigger boards.

Chuchnit 01-15-2010 11:22 PM

Honestly I'm not too impressed with my tech station. I mean for 24/7 or testing, it's ok. For extreme cooling I personally think your better off with the mobo box which is what I use. What I like about the Easy+Hard is with the easy you got pretty much a case to put opticals, multiple HDD's, and pretty much everything. Then if you ever have the need you can just pop the Hard portion off and you have the little table like Vince uses.

DrNip 01-16-2010 04:14 AM

I forgot all about this.

It is an ok table but the back support arm gets in the way on some boards like my UD5, it won't let me put in a 3rd GPU for Tri SLI. Other than that it works fine but the Dimas looks like it would blow the HSPC away.

I want one!! I have to start my SS build somewhere.....Links us if someone has them...I will build a table for this to stretch out on...

Jeffro64 01-16-2010 05:58 AM

Talked me into it... How much are they? I can't find prices anywhere and he is out of stock on his site.

BTW..... The only reason i'm looking at a case is for a system once I find one I really like to retire it from benching into a 24/7 gamer/MCPC. I wasn't going to even try setting one up for benching.

That is what I have the lianli 343 b for..It is pricey but holds everything..All the water cooling is set up in 1 case..This is my 24/7...The Dimas will be my benching setup as soon as i can get some help with the SS..I emailed sdumper but haven't heard back...

as far as a 24/7 rig..if your going to use air my Silverstone TJ09 is a great case....It also will hold any VGA with no problem..I also like the fact it holds the HD's on there side..For some reason the raptors never get loud on there side....

Chuchnit 01-16-2010 06:25 AM

Jeffro, Dimas will ship his bench tables to the US, but shipping is supposed to be high and take a while to get through customs. Just shoot him a pm on XS, or one of the many other large forums.

Jeffro64 01-16-2010 07:08 AM

Oh yeah... I know he'll ship to the US, was just wondering how much the bench table was cause there weren't any prices on his site. But i'll try to PM him and see when they will be back instock and how much.

MaadDaawg 01-20-2010 07:38 AM

Dunno, personally I love my banchetto 101. I use the classy ECP instead of the supplied on/off and reset buttons though - makes the classy fit the case better :) Once I get the Koolance quick disconnects should be real quick to swap mobos on/off

bookmarked the $79 jobby for future ref though

Made a "cheapy" out of Oak.. cost me over $100 bucks in wood :( Next time I'll use pine or something lol
