Supes P55 Classified thread

http://www.overclockaholics.com/Kal/...assy%20002.JPG

Bout to jump into the P55 club and see what its all about :) .
First impressions are pretty cool. Take notice of the onboard
voltage reader that connects directly to the motherboard and
displays voltages on an lcd poster. Aint that just cool shat?

Comes with the normal assortment of classified goodies we've
come to know and love. The post code lcd, adapters, bridges etc.

I was just gonna mount and run but looking at the sticker located
on the cpu socket "Read before mounting cpu" sorta says
"Hey Jackfruit, read the manual this time eh ;) " so thats
what I'll do this time out.

Looking forward to posting my progress with this motherboard and
a i5 670 processor.

Boot in at 5.8ghz and increase blck by 10mhz till you or you're happy should work.

Thays cool beans Supes!!! Can't wait to see what u can do with that monster!!!

punx223 01-28-2010 06:50 PM

you will love the integrated volt meter as you can read voltage from ANYTHING... gpus or anything

Neuromancer 01-28-2010 06:57 PM

Aww look how cute and tiny the chipset heatsink is. Looks like a baby compared to the X58 :)

Seriously though, give it hell Kal, rack it up and make it hurt

karmakazi 01-28-2010 08:28 PM

beautiful board!! lets see 7ghz :D

punx223 01-28-2010 09:17 PM

make sure you have the newest bios kal.... especially for running 2:8 mem divider

Chuchnit 01-29-2010 01:35 AM

Looks like somebody is gonna tear it up soon!! I can't wait for results.

DrNip 01-29-2010 01:48 AM

QFT :) was very helpful with my 8800gtx vmod, was nice not having to rig a ground into an open pci-e connector and juggle everything else.

RomDominance 01-29-2010 04:34 AM

Just remember Supers that the 670 scales with cold, not voltage. I heard it but I wasn't listening the first time around....thus one dead 670. Now I know better.
Definitely do the cbb mod and slowly take her to higher voltages while lower temps. My phone is always on bro if I can assist.:keeporder:

It's the only way to learn buddy. Just start pluggin in the numbers YOU want to try and find the sweet spot from there.

Kal-EL 01-31-2010 11:17 AM

Hey, uh, I'm sure this will come as a major shock to most of you :P

SSD's operating systems are very corruptable

Started screwing around with mild overclocking and poof~! My os went to see the wizard. I was a jackfruit and didn't image the install too  Ah, still pulling rookie mistakes pullhair

Posted a couple BONE STOCK runs in first post.

Kal-EL 01-31-2010 11:09 PM

This seem like a good chip?

Splave 02-01-2010 04:46 AM

looks decent kal! like 17 boints?

Kal-EL 02-01-2010 08:58 AM

No sub's yet, I ramped it up to 4.9ghz on air last night. I looked at the bot submissions and it looks like everyone is running 1.5 thru 1.6ish for 5ghz and beyond.

Kal-EL 02-01-2010 11:43 PM

Not sure how this compares to other cuz I haven't bothered researching but at first glance it looks good for just air cooling, no?

RomDominance 02-02-2010 04:33 AM

Smart man, "it keeps the votage off the chip" (while on air, lol)
Unfortunately efficiency means little until you put her under extreme and find out if you chip has the flu or not. http://overclockaholics.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=1774
Crossing my fingaas fer ya!;)

Well, I like to see if she's a misbehavin wench or a plays by a book. Seems theres a pattern to her already which will come in handy during the scaling process. Long as she don't freak out at -32c I'll be happy.

Neuromancer 02-02-2010 09:40 AM

Low voltage type was 1.88V
High voltage type was 2.07V need

Holy crap!!!

Kal I changed my mind, 5GHz on air is sweet, even if it is only a dual core ;)

Kal-EL 02-04-2010 07:17 PM

Thx Rich, seems like a nice air clock for the temps.

I caught some nasty "18" post codes today while sneaking in some bench time. Freeze in os, freeze while os loading. Date/time reset on bios to factory. Badness all around, had a feeling the cpu was headed to the grave or there was some sort of short somewhere.

After further inspection, I determined the h/s mount was a lil un-even. After straightening her up, everything returned to normal. This board/cpu is very sensitive to pin pressure. FYI.

Assassin48 02-04-2010 07:23 PM

has the "burn in" been solved ?
haven't kept up with p55

Kal-EL 02-04-2010 08:02 PM

Not sure, I believe it still exists.

Kal-EL 02-04-2010 11:32 PM

Trying to catch up to rickss on his H20 :P

Splave 02-05-2010 04:06 AM

looks good kal! fyi rick is on a sick chilled water setup

ReverendMaynard 02-05-2010 04:08 AM

lol water cooled is a bit misleading with the rickster.

Kal-EL 02-05-2010 07:07 AM

Haha, another foamer lurking around here being misleading. I just needed a rabbit to chase while on air to familirize myself with the board quirks. Boy am I glad I took the time to hammer at it on air, it should really help when I go subzero.

Still testing the limits of this board in increments. 15L of Ln2 this session. Evbot watched my back and told me "off" when the frost reached the 1st DIMM slot and sure enough there was frost there. Thx Super Evbot!
Using bios A58 with "no" cold bug mod on the board. She boot bugs at around -135c. Voltages used are quite low compared to others at the bot so either there are some lying bastards over there or its just not needed a whole heck of a lot right now.

This i5 670 runs perfectly with nipples hanging out and hard @ -190c. I didn't have a chance to press much past the courtship phase of 6ghz + but its definitely a go go go so far. Next session will push further. Its dry out time. My i7 3570 is still owning this chip in 2D but its still early. Here is the progression so far:
