I decided to fore-go the whole "tech station" trend and go nutz on my desk.
It isn't finished yet, as the last of my stuff is on the way ;) http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/7443/hpim1620.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4863/hpim1621.jpg http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/1885/hpim1622.jpg Then this showed up, and I couldn't resist..... http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9883/hpim1624p.jpg http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/7923/hpim1626.jpg http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/5456/hpim1628.jpg http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/291/hpim1629z.jpg http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8858/hpim1631.jpg So after a loooong morning of running around town, I decided to stop and reward myself with a little dice-scream. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/763/hpim1637u.jpg http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/2811/hpim1634b.jpg http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/7250/hpim1636.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7457/hpim1640.jpg I didn't get much out of my old 780i, which I have all but pronounced dead. She did good up to 4.6ghz, but got squirly a tad higher, and I couldn't get it under control for the rest of the run. Clocked it all the way back to 1600fsb just to get it to boot again. Couldn't push it past 1800fsb no matter what I did. Oh well, I honed in the pot, and timed the DICE really well and kept it around -70 the entire time. Above all, fun to build, fun to bench. More pics of the underside when all is tidy. :D Here is more for the monster.... http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7955/hpim1642s.jpg http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1535/hpim1646q.jpg http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3497/hpim1645h.jpg |

When my desk was in the designing stages I was planning on running a setup much like that one as well. Looking good :good: |
Thanks all!

Yeah, but does the ep45t do 800mhz chips? I have a ton of netburst to own on.

ep45t is on the egg for <$150 shipped so I'll probably try my luck with that..... Haven't been in a gigaBIOS before.... should be fun!
|
did you check the supported cpu list FACE?
|
yep :D I should be golden..... only thing I should need is a car battery and a few good lengths of power-line cable to volt mod it....
|
Got what I was waiting for.... Thanks Marc! :Hi:
http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/958/hpim1654.jpg Small bubbles formed after I rolled it on. I'm going to have fun working those out. It feels more like a rig than a desk with holes in it now. :D |
hah hah SWEET
|
I just noticed that my camera is taking pictures funky.... Does that look wall-eyed to anyone else?
|
their is a slight bevel at the edge of the desk on the bottom.
Great mod love it |
Thanks....
Yeah, the vinyl is perfectly square, but it looks noob-cut in that pic. Looks like the camera is about to be taken behind the wood shed. :gun10: |
I like it :)

i really like that setup!
i got a 780i lol wishing i got a 790i  how is the cooling on the bridge? my 780i is like cooking turkey! |

For the build: HDD cage was extracted from an old Dell scissor case. I have extra slides on spare drives for quick-draw swapping. The thermo is wired for ac and housed in a XBOX 360 dvd drive shell. It was the perfect size, and when the probe is not in use, it easily tucks away in the left side. DVD rom is mounted with thumbscrews. I mounted L-brackets to the underside of the desk with springs to keep vibration down. The PSU mount was made from another PSU, it's solid as a rock, and I fashioned an aluminum bracket so one thumbscrew holds it securely in place. I measured out the top 10 holes with a motherboard, and used a punch to make the indentions for the drill. I picked a drill bit that was a tad smaller than a mobo standoff and drilled roughly deep enough to fit a standoff in. Stadoffs were driven in with a hammer. The board standoffs are just 20 stainless mobo standoffs and 10 thumbscrews. As long as the surface mounts are driven in flat the standoffs line up perfectly (duh). Marc designed the vinyl, and does excellent work! The logo on the corner is still visible with a board mounted (except classified x58), and I couldn't be happier. I am working on a bracket to hold the pci-e cards in place, mounted to the top in the same fashion as the mobo. |

It does seem odd though, I mean the picture. Like out of round. |
Yeah, the cam is an old 5mp beastie... I have a new camera, but have been using that old one since I can't seem to pry the new one out of the gf's hands long enough to actually use it.
