F u i quit!!!!!

I am quitting smoking starting today. I haven't had a smoke since last night, and it sux sooooo bad.

I've been smoking since I was 13. I am willing to bet that it doesn't help my odds for success. :ohcrap:

Chuchnit 03-06-2010 03:58 AM

Well you can't back down now :P You already told the internets :)

FACE 03-06-2010 04:00 AM

That's the plan. Getting started is the toughest... dealing with the woman when she gets home might be brutal though. who knows what 8 hours of conscious nicotine withdrawal will bring to the table.. lol.

Kal-EL 03-06-2010 04:04 AM

Good luck man, how do we tell if you screw up? You gonna submit to nicotine screening?

Are you having withdrawals just talking about it? HEY! DOn't byte my head off man! :P j/k

Whatever you do, don't start with the snuff. Its worst that cigs. I have to go on a vacation by myself if I quit, last time I tried, I almost got divorced.

DrNip 03-06-2010 04:11 AM

Man good luck. I smoked for ten years and quit 4 years ago. The way I did it was gradually smoking less everyday. The last few days it got to where I was only smoking one a day and at that it was a few puffs in the morning, a few in the afternoon and a few at night. Finally after a few days of that I just stopped.

FACE 03-06-2010 04:12 AM

It's funny, because all I want to do is come up with reasons to go outside.

Haven't given in yet. I have an inhaler that I paid too much for and I'm picking up some gum (not nicotine gum) to keep the mouth occupied (shut up!) .

I'll be happy with one or two smokes a day for the first week. after that, no mas. Quitting cold turkey is impossible, and I become a monster if I'm not careful.

LOL, I'm sure I'll bite a few noggins in the process, but it's worth it. Driving is going to be the real test.

best of luck! proud of ya bro

DrNip 03-06-2010 04:21 AM

The tuff parts for me was that morning cig and after a meal cig. That's why I went with the DrNip step down approach. Couldn't do it cold turkey.

Not having the morning smoke really didn't bother me too much. I normally don't eat until lunchtime, so I will probably have problems then.

How did you go anywhere without playing bumper cars with other drivers? I have a feeling going to the bank today is going to suck.

DrNip 03-06-2010 04:40 AM

Luckily I live in Oklahoma and traffic really isn't that bad here compared to other states. :D

My latest addiction I quit was coffee two weeks ago. That was a tuff one to quit too. Had headaches for about 8 days straight! Finally over that and functioning normal.

Kal-EL 03-06-2010 04:43 AM

Meh, good luck bro, its either gonna happen or its not. No matter how much anyone strokes or doesnt stroke your support feathers.

FACE 03-06-2010 04:43 AM

Yeah, I'll get to caffeine later... one thing at a time. I don't want to kill anybody!

My thinking is that it has to happen. Smokes are getting ready to go up a buck a pack in all 50 states. That's good hardware money literally going up in smoke.

Another good reason is for my little boy. I gotta quit before he knows what's going on. That way I can slam him if he goes to pick up a habit like this and I won't feel like a hypocrite.

Splave 03-06-2010 04:57 AM

Kal-EL 03-06-2010 05:11 AM

I dunno about you but I go nutterz when its quitting time, its like I'm on super meth.

HITandRUN 03-06-2010 05:29 AM

Good luck my friend! This is going to be a ride!

MaadDaawg 03-06-2010 08:34 AM

I quit 3.5 years ago using a combination of the cinnamon flavored gum and the mint flavored losenges. I think the cinnamon did the most good cause with that taste in your mouth there's no way you can smoke a cig.

Good luck man... we're all behind ya bro :)

marcam923 03-06-2010 02:08 PM

I hear you buddy, I want to quit too, but I have to wait until I am ready, good luck bud and I hope you keep it up!!

I will too one day, but I fear for the people around me, hahaha

FACE 03-06-2010 02:11 PM

Rogue210 03-06-2010 08:28 PM

Gutterz 03-07-2010 03:33 AM

You can ask you DR. about Chantix, It has worked for alot of people I know but it gives you bad nightmares while on it. Its about $90 for 1 month worth of doses. Michigan cigs range from $5.90 to $8.00 a pack. Ive been rolling my own for about 4 yrs now for $12 a carton. They just recently banned smoking here in all public places bars restaurants ect. Just another right lost :(
