hehe, well I know the 1156 quads are supposed to suck. I just don't know by how much. That's why I was asking :)

Neuromancer 03-10-2010 10:24 AM

It was not that long ago that 4GHz was an impressive feat on air/water. So I understand the elation :)

punx223 03-10-2010 10:38 AM

dude i used an I7 870 on some dice lovin, and 5 ghz or so was about where it started acting really stupid.

Kriztoffer 03-10-2010 11:32 AM

Great work both of you! Keep pushing it

Patriot 2Ghz

Has anyone played with these CL8 modules? 2GHZ @ CL8 seems ridiculously fast.

I anticipate some mad overclockability on these.

Kal-EL 03-12-2010 01:48 PM

Got a linky?

Russianhaxor 03-12-2010 03:50 PM

that shit is uber expensive though jake.... trust me one day i hope to get some of those modules but ill be damned if im gonna buy ram that cst more than a gpu lol

Apache0c 03-13-2010 02:24 PM

Sux, I'm about to spend $200 on ram. And thats for DDR2 :(

Neuromancer 03-13-2010 02:45 PM

What DDR2 costs that much?

1200MHz cas5 1.8v is only $150 on newegg

Apache0c 03-13-2010 04:58 PM

^ I'm buying two pairs of these:

^ Why do people with X58 boards need 12 or 24gb of ram?

I run everything on a native Linux install and I run Windows 7 in a virtual machine. Whenever I have all my programs going on the native and virtual machines, my memory usage is at 100% and so I want to dedicate 4GB to the VM.

Screen Flickering

So, my screen is flickering. This is an ASUS 24" 246V or 242 i dont remember.

Either way, its flickering. I at first thought it was BFBC2, no dice because it flickers whenever i put ANYTHING on it other than my desktop. So i decided to say maybe its the DVI port. Switched ports, the ASUS is still the only one having flickering. Okay, fine. So then i decided to change the default desktop to the other 24" still, not dice. The ASUS flickers whenever i put ANYTHING on it. The weird thing is, its not a normal flicker, its a weird static grey flicker. It happens much more often when there is actually something on the screen, but it also does it on its own as it is right now. I've tried screen shotting it, but it happens so fast i cant catch it and im afraid i don't think it can be screen shot. (edit i just screen shot it and it didn't show up on the screenshot).

This problem ONLY occured today after i installed my 2nd 24" monitor. Which led me to believe that maybe it was a problem with my Videocard VRAM. Checking EVGA precision all my temps and clocks seem perfectly normal....

I'm just confused as to what it could be. I'm more inclined to say Monitor after my testing...

Kal-EL 03-15-2010 03:44 PM

You test that monitor by itself?

Russianhaxor 03-15-2010 03:45 PM

I switched signal inputs and it still flickered. I just wanted someone else to confirm my dreadful conclusion.

ocgmj 03-15-2010 07:23 PM

I would say it's probably the power supply getting ready to die. Same thing has happen to me.

I thought so too, then i accidentally wiggled the cable and it completely stopped.

Hondacity 03-15-2010 07:57 PM

LOL

asus lcd's have a track record regarding their lcd power supplies... but hey if its the cable contacts...get some contact cleaner at the shack...

Dude, tell me a monitor that doesn't lol.

Also, the weird part is that i had this issue and i swapped DVI ports and it didn't help. This leads me to believe i need to go to Frys and buy a DVI cable. OR I COULD GO TO BESTBUY AND BUY A SUPER UBER ULTRA AWESOME GOLD PLATED MONSTER DVI CABLE THAT WILL MAKE MY PICTURE LOOK BETTER!

Hondacity 03-15-2010 08:12 PM

lol monster cables...

yeah..most lcd power supplies aren't actively cooled...imagine those small power supplies doing 60-150w and no active cooling...shitty i say...unless they're using some server grade psu...they'd be fine...

Its the bane of the industry. Monitors would last so much longer if they had better power inverters.

Russianhaxor 03-16-2010 08:47 PM

LMFAO Dead Videocard

Remember my monitor issues?

Turns out i did some videocard stress tests and the vram went to shit. :ohcrap:

1000's of failures in memtest on the GPU Ram test in OCCT.

Bye bye GTX 260.

BFBC2 + Dual 24" Monitors = Dead Videocard.

Neuromancer 03-16-2010 08:52 PM

wow heloo welcome to the world of nVidia Glad to meet you :)

Its like buying a Gigabyte board based on the reviews. "Oh man mine is so awesome I cant wait till it comes back from RMA"

Russianhaxor 03-16-2010 09:11 PM

My replacement for now is a Gigabyte 4890.

Neuromancer 03-16-2010 10:02 PM

4890 is a great card... dunno about GB though.. dont think I have had a GB aTI card...
