1HP Rotary Cooler

Hello everyone,

In fact it's my first serious unit. It took a lot of time to build this, but it wasn't wasted time ;)

Just an ordinary, quite strong SS. I'm pretty satisfied with the results (-41C @ 250W, -46C @ 180W, -54C @ idle). Maybe it can be tuned a little better (it also depends on where K-type probe is located, I've drilled small hole on the top of evap, bcoz for now I'm mostly interested in overclocking, not the lowest temperature ;) ). I've tested it few days ago, and on E8400 @ 5,2GHz 1,8v there was something like -48C what is nice ;)

Compressor - Teco KETC176 10755 btu
Condenser - 25x25x5cm, 4x 120x38 mm Nidec fans (10V, 0.5A each)
Suction line - 80 cm long, 19 mm thick insulation
Evap - stepper, 42 mm diam, 40 mm, my production
Expansion valve - 0,8 mm captube
Refrigerant - pure R507
Baseplate - stainless, 35x50 cm

Some frost (about -54C on idle)

Hey BartX nice to see you over here (was just PMing you over at OCN)

Sweet looking SS you have there, very clean :)

Kal-EL 03-21-2010 11:35 AM

Nice and tidy build bartx, what was your final material cost?

Witchdoctor 03-21-2010 12:08 PM

Sweet build man

how does it hold on 1024 ?

rickss69 03-21-2010 12:10 PM

Very clean! Is there a switch hidden someplace?

HITandRUN 03-21-2010 12:37 PM

Very nice clean unit mate! I love it!

HITandRUN 03-21-2010 12:39 PM

Geez my intertubez is nuts today! For some reason it always double posts!

Immaculate work Bart, and it looks like it performs well to boot. BTW, welcome to OCA, hope to see you around more.

ReverendMaynard 03-21-2010 02:31 PM

beautiful build bart, can't wait to see what it does strapped to a cpu.

thebanik 03-21-2010 10:41 PM

Nice build their Bart, are you looking to take orders as well??? Would it be possible for you to provide a quote for this or some other similar build???

Neuromancer 03-21-2010 11:44 PM

4 fans on a single stage seems like a lot. Is it extra quiet.. or ultra low power or something?

ReverendMaynard 03-22-2010 04:09 AM

I'd rather have those 4 fans with more contained static pressure than a huge Cessna prop blowing stuff off my desk lol.

rofl, ditto

Witchdoctor 03-23-2010 09:58 AM

What condensor are you using ?

what temp is the compressor running at ?

bartx 03-27-2010 07:44 PM

Thx everyone :cool3:

Fans originally are 12V 0.8A (kinda strong ;) ), but they're running at 10V 0.5A. Not so quiet, but rotary is still louder. Condenser is about 1kw, I don't know for sure. Compressor is running at 80-90C, I haven't measured exactly, but less than 100C for sure.

Hondacity 03-27-2010 08:04 PM

wow that looks brutally strong :D
