RMA'd Lightning restocking Fee

Curious about this. Were you charged a restocking fee from newegg upon return of your lightning? They charged me 75 bucks.

Their policy says 15% restocking fee right?

Witchdoctor 03-30-2010 03:36 AM

that's a drag Duke .... especially as you prolly spend a small fortune there every year

You would think they would take purchasing history in to account .....

Hello Tiger Direct .... I think they have a better policy .... Rom might be the guy to ask though he buys a lot there I think ....

Splave 03-30-2010 04:03 AM

Tiger has got to be the best in return policy
Ordered 4x4890s at one time, they were not reference as pictured they took them right back and sent me a shipping label (cost them $20)

RMA'd a mobo through them same thing, great service.

Newegg it depends on what you say when you go to get the rma number. I wrote defective product design or some shit lol.

Dentlord 03-30-2010 04:26 AM

I got hit for the $75 on my lightning return. Just got my money back today!

2chesapeakes 03-30-2010 05:08 AM

They tried that on me with a mobo. I had them look up my account histiry and explained they would no longer see any bussiness from me. They quickly changed their mind on the restocking fee. I would call them back and explain things. If that did not work I would file a dispute with the credit card company. new Egg sold you a defective product then charged a restocking fee. The credit card company will have a field day with them.

This always works! You don't pay all the CC charges for nothing. Let them work for you! :D

I wrote it was defective and didnt work at ll right out of the box. There were no questions and my RMA# came in my email within 30 secs.

Unfortunately i didn't go through a credit card company. I'm a preffered customer and have a credit line with them.

RomDominance 03-30-2010 05:54 AM

These were all recalled as it were. You should have zero probs getting the restock fee back dood...just call em.

ReverendMaynard 03-30-2010 05:57 AM

^^ yep Rom. Just be cool on the phone, honey catches more flies than lemons!

GFDuke 03-30-2010 06:20 AM

They made good on the fee and very nice to me about it.

Witchdoctor 03-30-2010 06:41 AM

Awsome .... I would be hitting them up Dent ...... 75 buck is BS ..... for the type of money you spend there ....

I bet if the entire team boycotted them they would loose 100K a year ...... LOL

Dentlord 03-30-2010 06:46 AM

The way I see it, if it wouldnt run at stock speeds, then yeah I should get all my money back.

As it is, I just wasnt happy with the oc headroom on ln2 ... hardly a reason to claim it was defective ... so I eat the $75 and keep rolling.

RomDominance 03-30-2010 07:04 AM

That is very admirable of you Winger, but ponder this. I guarantee that the egg is getting every dime they spent back from MSI...add to that the fact that it wasn't as advertised, not even close brother. Get your $'s back bro, more to spend there in the future. Maybe ask them for a credit?

Dentlord 03-30-2010 07:08 AM

Well, "as advertised" would be stock speeds, which it did fine with.

I dont really count the guys on hwbot setting records with modded cherry cards as advertising, although it certainly is to guys like us.

I get your point though, Ill call them up and see what they say ;)

ocgmj 03-30-2010 07:52 AM

I too have received full refund for my card. :)

Cecil 03-30-2010 09:10 AM

Whenever you need an RMA from newegg, call. If its a defective return, they will not charge a restocking fee, and will pay for shipping. If you return because you dont want it, then you have to pay for both. I got a Scythe Big Shuriken once, that blocked half the ram slots on my mobo, and they wanted to charge me for shipping and the restocking fee on it, which wasnt worth sending it back.

2chesapeakes 03-30-2010 11:07 AM

I understand where you are coming from. Due to a bad insulating job I destryed 2 4870x2's when they were first released. I threw them away and purchased two more because I was at fault.

As advertised would be the card performing the same as the samples they put in the hands of the sponsered guys before the retail cards were released. The retail version should perform as well as that. If they wanted us to buy for advertised speed they should make that known and the prereleased versions should be show cased at stock speeds.

+1

Don't trust on their automated RMA service. Call them or contact them thru Live Chat and they will return any fees plus rma shipping label.
