Got my second 150GB vrap in the mail today.. so going to be able to compare some 300GB raid0 love vs my (by benchmarks) very fast $150 SSD. TBH I am not very impressed with the SSD. (240MB/s read... 100+ write speeds, .1 latency... feels no different to me, boots maybe 5 seconds faster? Apps do not appear to load quicker. Bah. Think vrap has me jaded....)

looking forward to that comparison, u should do a raid 0 compare on the raptors 2 agains ssd. Do you play games? how well does the ssd load maps? I r on single Raptor now an my bench drives are 80G Raptors. One day I'll go SSD.

I will be.. was going to be all subjective.. but I guess I should do a straight up comparison huh. That will take a while.. next project is DIcing the i7. Waiting for my VRs and Jauns GPU pot to arrive that has priority.

Dunno benchmarks are only going to show what benchmarks show. I will add the subjective benchmark to it as well.

On a serious note... I install games once in a while (neither of them) play them religiously for week. Format my computer and wait till next year :)

oh and vrap to rap.. no comparison. 2 80GB raptors dont = a 150GB vrap in my experience.

I was being facetious.

I have played it on an HDD vs SSD and load times were shorter, but the most important thing was that i didn't notice lag.

The only problem though, was that i had switched from a gtx 260 to a 4890, so i might reinstall the game again to compare.

I <3 my 4890. Won it here at OCA. Never giving it up :) Granted I aint run it in a while.. I was concectrating on 2d. I slapped a waterblock to it recently.. cant wait to see how that turns out.. still trying to find a sub $40-60+shipping alternative to adding a set of QDC... thinking about some cheap PVC ball valves. let the mini loop drain who cares? Ill take care of it. (also have some crap nVidia stuff with GPUs.. only reason I care 3 GPU blocks might be restrictive or I would hook them all up and go with it)

You should have no problems supes. Just got my Sata 3 Crucial Technology Micron SSD up and running and wondering why I fooled around with them platters for so long. Never going back. Though I would like to see the performance of that Raptor on my Asus mobo.

Honestly, I get faster windows load times using my Raptor Raid array than a single Intel SSD. I'm also not too impressed over a single raptors performance in regards to sotp feel in teh os.

Still need to Raid these two ssd's to get a true feel of powa tho ;)

Here is a quick preview of my new ssd. I borked something in the registry or something and it is running a little slower now on this install than my previous install. Reads were around 320 ish and writes 200 ish. Been reading of people getting reads of 350 and writes of 210 out of these though. How on earth they did that I wish I knew. I'll get the kinks out this weekend hopeful and will start my thread on this latest build. I tell you what though, I have never seen Windows load so fast than with this.

So far I prefer even 7200 rpm raid over my ssd.

I cant wait to get home and try out vrap raid :)


WOW 330MB/s read is fast. I only get 240 on mine reactor 60gb.

This is the newest Sata 3 SSD I have running there paired up with the new Asus Premium with Sata 3. :D
