If it hovers, even better

Ok, everything is set for me returning to benching. However, I want to maybe purchase some fans. Some fans that will force me to tie my rig down or it'll run away from me.

Any recommendations? Only thing is I have to be able to power it with my PSU, I don't want to have to get a Meanwell PSU or something just for the fans LOL

Assassin48 04-12-2010 03:30 PM

why not ?

I use a spare 650w Psu to run
2x water pumps and about 10 Fans

lol

dont got money for it now, but I can spare some cash for the fans. Plus Im not going to set a WR on air so it's all good, just want something better than what I have now.

You never know lol

Get some cheap Ultra Kazi from newegg $10 each

FACE 04-12-2010 04:20 PM

Check out local tech shops.... ask if they have any dell case fans from dead dell computers... Those are almost always Delta fans, and if you hook them up to a molex w/o control they will hover easily...

Most places will just give them to you, or at least charge very little for a used fan. ;)

ReverendMaynard 04-12-2010 04:23 PM

+1 for the Ultra Kaze finger crunchers.

HITandRUN 04-12-2010 04:35 PM

Let me see if I have a spare 12V industrial PSU flying around. You can have it for free if I find one.

Neuromancer 04-12-2010 04:41 PM

If you dont mind noise the 3K ultra kaze cost about 6-7 bucks gota search for that price thoough.
However even turned down they are loud. (one of mine clicks when under volted, others may too I usually just through the rad outside though and not bother listening to it at all :) )

High FPI? Go with a 38mm otherwise the yate loons are fine. the HS are pretty noisy at high speed but dead silent at lower speeds. But you are not going to have the pressure the 38mm can give you.

Chicken Patty 04-12-2010 06:54 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Hit & Run let me know bro I'd really appreciate it.

I just picked up 6 2200RPM yate-loons from Jab-Tech for ~$3 each.
http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-12...d-pr-3771.html
$3.30 if you buy 3 or more.

Cecil,

That's a heck of a deal bro, but I'm looking for something big man. Something with serious airflow.

HITandRUN 04-28-2010 11:06 AM

Hey I dropped the ball on this a little bit. Actually I was looking for this thread and for the love of geebus could not find it. Well this is the PSU I have floating around here. Its a dual rail 5VDC @ 13A and 12VDC @ 2A PSU. Fully enclosed. 12V @ 2A is not big but for sure it could help you power a few fans and maybe a pump + its FREE. If you want it PM me your shipping address and its going your way.

I wouldn't know how to thank you bro, YHPM.

By the way I haven't purchased fans yet but I will soon. This Friday or Saturday I'm having a LAN Party/Benchsession at my buddies house. He has a few cards I can bench so why not :)

Hum! These are crazy fans. Pulling 2.45A. This PSU will not really work with them if he wants to run these. I think I got to look for something else to hook him up.

Maybe not those, I'll get something a little bit less powerful than that :D

:laughing: If those fans come off the cooler, make sure you seek cover under the bed or something. One of those thing clips you while it's hovering around and your done!

HITandRUN 04-29-2010 11:06 AM

OK brotha I found something better for you. Brand new OMRON 12V @ 4.5A which should be enough to power some fans and a water pump etc.

"Hello, CP is too excited at the moment to post, when he returns back to this normal state of mind he'll be sure to stop by and thank you for your generosity, thank you."

LOL!

Neuromancer 04-29-2010 08:50 PM

Word up!!!

Brothers helping Brothers, Love to see it!

You do realize CP.. that this means you need to spend any money you have to buy fans that will ABUSE this PSU :)

hey hey (dont forget the fan to cool the PSU;))

Chicken Patty 04-30-2010 02:11 AM

I will be buying some fans, no worries :)`

DrNip 04-30-2010 02:20 AM

I use Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM fans as suggested before. Can't go wrong with them. Honda had the hook, just need to foot the shipping cost. Can't beat that.

How about some Turbo .....

May be a little extreme ................. :ohcrap:

For some 5000 CFM action

DrNip 04-30-2010 02:34 AM

Now if that don't look freakin sweet!

FACE 04-30-2010 03:23 AM

ROFL, I'd be worried about cables being blown loose or tiny projectiles....

Imagine what a ladybug would do to the inside of your box at those speed... :ohcrap:

DrNip 04-30-2010 03:24 AM

Why not just get a couple of box fans on your setup? LOL

Heres a Big Fan

Chicken Patty 04-30-2010 03:01 PM

OMG, my dream has came true, it's possible!!!!!!!

Chicken Patty 05-01-2010 01:03 PM

Well after spending about six hours under the burning Miami sun and sweating about 5 gallons of water from my body I finally got the turbo swapped on my car and a few other things. Now I will try to get a little rest (nap for about 1.5 hours) and then pack up and head to my buddies house. It's lan party/benchsession time. It's been a while and this is a new board from RMA so I don't know how it'll clock. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes and try to take some pics.

I'll only be benching my i7 rig, but with a few different cards.

X300, 2900XT, 5770, 5770c/f and some random nvidia cards I have laying around which I don't even know if they work or not.

Kal-EL 05-01-2010 02:20 PM

yep, about to start shutting off and packing up. Talk to you folks later :toast:

Chicken Patty 05-01-2010 11:52 PM

Well the benching was a disaster, left some software behind, left some 3pin to 4pin molex behind so the fans weren't flowing as supposed to therefore my temps when pushing the rig sucked. I had lots of fun from a LAN perspective, but the benching sucked. Also the ambient temps at my house rock, so tomorrow or the day after I'll be doing my benching here at home where I have everything. I'll see if I post some pics later, its 6am now and I gotta wake up at 9am :(

HITandRUN 05-19-2010 07:45 AM

Hey mate just wanted to let you know that I finally made it to the USPS (yeah I know) and your PSU is on its way. Let me know how this is working for you!
