http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MUAi_A8MG8
Found this link http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-226-AS I am hoping this means it will show up in the United States soon ..... AT 408 Euro's looks like this beast will reatil around $ 522.00 Anybody have any links to it's preformance ? |
uk prices are always bloated......
plat edition..hmmm prolly just a marketing term... |
Doe no Honda ....
But it is an interesting prospect if it can be tweaked as advertised two 8 pins so there is a lot of juice to utilize ..... Wonder if the GPU's have been binned for these cards ? |

Unboxing ......
defenantly a sexy card ..... would love to bench this thing and possibly let it find a home in my gamer when done ... http://buy-netbook-online-washington...edition-first/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MUAi_A8MG8 their is another site asking for 388 euro's |
In the unboxing video the guy said not to use the power adapters.... I think in this case he may be wrong....
Look at them closely, they are 2 x 6 pin ==> 1 x 8 pin adapters.... not molex. I think that would actually be better than just 2 x 8 pin, since you can add more rails to the card on big multi rail psu's... Card is a sexy bitch though... |
5870s are useless now for boints beyond hardware ;) 3 months ago this would have gotten my attention

Hardware value is the only points any card will count for in the end ..... I understand what you are saying but do not look at the globals that close, it does get you reconition but in the end they are all hardware points once next gen rolls out ..... as it stands if you look at the hardware value of a 480 ... it is disturbing at best and a finacial disaster for nV at worst ...... Plus to compete for serious Global you must be on Ln2 Not quite there yet but am doing some home work. I may get there sooner rather than later so I can roll in the Global battle ..... Looks like a ton of fun ..... I am torn though 480 or 5870 .... me wants the 480 but the numbers say Matrix. Got my dice pot after I sold off my 5870 so I could never hardly compete with it .... It would be nice to max out my 5870 numbers as there is a ton of Hardware points to be had for the team and it is the third most popular card in the history of the BOT I may end up flipping a coin FTW ............ :ohcrap: |
I think you will get further with the 480 to be honest witchie, dice temps are good for 1000 core which owns the 5870 in everything minus vantage. You need ln2 for the 5870 imo.
|
The 480 will have tons of HW points down the road, don't worry.
Yu have to remember how freaking hard they have been to get until now. |

Yea your probably right Al.... I will be crunching the nunbers on the bot to see what would be the highest scoring card would be under my circumstances .... ss/Dice The one that comes out on top taking global and Hardware in to account will be what I am looking at buying ...... Plus I am looking for this card to end up in my gamer for the Crysis 2 action heading our way .... that beeing said the nV cards have always done a bit better with the Cryengine .... May just hold out as well as I have so many vid cards to bench once I get back up and running ........... :Dizzy: |
Asus 5870 Matrix at the egg
I see it is here at last..I am guessing the 480 will hurt the sales big time.. Prolly why it is cheaper than the Euro reviews had it

And get the prices down while they're at it.
|
Dang, they really are paranoid of the 480...Prices coming down already...
This is 70.00ish cheaper than Asus's standard 2gb 5870 + free shipping http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...odlist=froogle |
Too bad I'm 5870'd out.......and I need to save money for CPU's to populate the SR-2 I'm gonna win.....
|
newegg pricing is just a bitch....go zzf
|
Yea they will end up being about 10 to 15 % slower than the 480
They need to hit that price point .... That being said it would be a good buy at around $ 445.00 ..... I need a 5870 to maxx out hardware as it is worth a lot .... I also need the 480 to get my globals up On another note we may be the butt of yet another vendor joke as I have been reading the retail cards are not the 1500 Mhz core monsters that the ES cards that got everyone so excited ..... I guess they are all on that path of deception unfortunatly ..... |
