Sidewinders Computers FAIL
 

I ordered a few sets of the GTX 285 VRM heatsinks from Sidewinders on May 4th. I promptly recieved an e-mail from Gary Stofer informing me they only had 1 kit left and asking if I'd like to wait or have the 1 shipped.

I replied asking for the 1 kit to be shipped. Waited a couple weeks and kicked off a few more e-mails asking for a status update as I never recieved a confirmation. No Reply.

Tried calling their number, nobody answers or the phone is busy. Been calling them for the last two weeks straight now and periodically kicking off new e-mails. No replies.

Today I got a filipino lady on the phone and she issued me a refund and apologized.

Fail in my book.

FAIL! Link me to the sink kit please.

Wow that sucks Kal ... I have had nothing but great service from them in the past.
used to use them for all my H2O supplies ....

Won't be using them any more ... sounds as if they are going down hill ....

I explained everything to the nice manang, she did say sorry but its still pretty fail.

The PDF sheet doesn't state the sizes so I don't really know what you need. I have some assortment here which I usually cut to a proper size etc. I can hook you up with some if you need.

are you going to water cool the cards ?

You might be able to use if your going to dice the card too

Yah, if you got some assorted sizes laying around, I'm sure they'll come in useful for sinking up the ln2 cards.

No, I'm not watercooling anything, I forget what watercooling is nowadays ;)

I haven't ordered from Gary in a while and back then I received nothing but great service. However, this is FAIL in my book. :laughing:

I'm gonna hunt around for decent variety of sized sinks and then pick up replacement pads so I can keep re-using them. Once I have a good stash of sinks I'll just need replacement pads from then out.
Dont' think I'm gonna go with sidewinders for a while, it took too long to find out what the deal was.

Cool, have your heart set on any sinks yet though? That's what I meant to ask in the first place. Dummy me!:blush:

Not yet, will continue the hunt after I spend a few QT moments with the Mrs.

sidewinder is ok..they've changed...they're filipinos...

no homedepot or acehardware in your area? alu heatsinks are easy to cut...

Wait, Gary's not Sidewinders anymore? I'm trying to visualize the Christmas cards and I don't they were filipino.....

They've always been one of my favorites. Mostly because they're the only place I've found that carry my favorite tubing (tygon 7/16 ID 11/16 OD - takes a tight bend and no need for clamps). I've had out of stock issues from them before, but Gary tends to find what I need and give me extra crap for free for the inconvenience.

I've done a lot of biz with Gary the past few years, and always got GREAT service except for one of my last orders. Turned out they were on vacation so instead of getting my usual overnight delivery with UPS Ground, it took a week and a half. Then, when he got back I was about 100 orders back in the que. About all I buy from him anymore are the sinks, I like the enzotech copper sinks cause they have a little lip on the base that you can put eraser over to hold them down. The low profile memory sinks were perfect for my 480 mem cooling, even with the fatboy in place.

yeah and i think alot of ppl quit also so his like a one man crew or with just a few ppl which i think if he doesnt pick it up his going belly up with all the delays ppl been getting from him

Man I took a chance on Sidewinders for a simple S1156 mount for my megahalems. It got here stupid fast. The problem was that Gary sent me an AM2/3 mount :rofl I sent him an email this morning so hopefully he fixes this fast.

Yet another FAIL! Oh lord.

Well that was a very simple mistake. I won't get mad about this one as long as he offers to fix it by the EOB Monday. After that I'll get upset.

Last time I talked to him was just after he got back from vacation - It was him only until his wife got back. don't know if they've added any help but I do know they recently moved into a much larger warehouse.

Be a real shame if success killed him :thumbdown:

Regarding the heatsinks - Why don't you guys do away with those thermal pads/tape and use real thermal paste? Lay a thin coat of Dragon Skin down and they are secured...gotta be better. :)

I know, I wouldn't raise hell neither as long as they fix it quickly. keep us posted.

Problem fixed. Gary is sending me the correct mount and paid shipping for the AM2/3 mount to come back. :thumbsup:

I got my last order overnight as usual... maybe he's hired some help?
