Well without the P55 to play with (Classy died, may it rest in piece), I decided to insulate a GTX280 and play with my sucky 980x batch F (yes famous 3005F) w/ a 110oC CB and CBB :thumbdown: I tried Asus new bios and CB and CBB raised 5oC:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

Well I decided to have a go on 3D01 and was quite surprised with result:

Now I wanna get Dent on the OCA Sidebar :D

I need 600 points but before I push it harder I wanna now why I'm loosing so much on the High Resolution tests?

Yep I followed the Vivi's guide and even with 1030gpu/2050mem and higher mem clocks I lose ground on the High Def benches and win on all low res ones.

Only differences I can spot i timings, I was running 7-7-6-22-60 and Dent runs 7-6-7-22-88.

PS: The Classy died for no reason. I used it to install os's and turned it off last week, yesterday I turned it on and all I get is D3 postcode or no post at all (immediate shut off as when the cpu is grounded)... Tried pretty much everything but nothing solved the problem.

What res do you have the OS set to? Same as the benchmark?

Yes 1024x728 32bit. How about setting Priority? I left on Normal as High would give less FPS.

Are you setting core affinity to one core? Explain what you mean by loosing in the high res test? You saying your fps isn't on par with similar systems or what?

No I missed that I guess, affinity was on all cores.

I get higher scores on all low res:
dragon-low, lobby-low, car-low

and then I lose on the high res:
dragon-high, lobby-high, car-high

Might be affinity?

Are you talking about your FPS? They should be lower for the high's vs the low's. How is your scores comparing to other guys on X58?

Sorry Chuchnit: I am comparing to Dentlords results.

So all my low res benches are faster then Dents but all high res are slower.

You are on the wrong driver bud. You need to load up 182.50 and you should be set :)

I got him on the 185.85 Chuch because the 182.50's don't give you voltage control with AB...at least not for me.

Oh I see.... I had no clue about that. evga voltage tuner not give enough voltage? Does it work with 182.50?

rom you can use riva tuner to up voltage with those drivers :) worked for me (although I was overvolting it like a mad man @ 1.425v) What are you using volt wise jor

I'll give it a try guys, I was using what Mr. RomDom recommend for this card: 1.31vgpu and that's it.

Big thanks to him he gave me all the GTX280 sweet spots from cold to volts. :thumbsup:

Hey man Rom won't steer you wrong. Obviously that driver isn't very weak. :) Plus he was the only one here that knew which one to use that AB would work with ;). By far one of the most knowledgeable and helpful guys around here. :good::Hi:

From our OCA archives what is the best XP to run this bench?

Jor, I'm guilty of being really lazy the last few months so I have only ran mine. SZS guys swear by tinyXP though. Really any highly cut down XP with the tweaks applied are gonna be super close. I only gained about ~500-800 points going from a full XP to a cut version in the low clock challenge. So amplify that to full clocks and you are probably looking at a couple thousand for a cut version.

Great thanks man, for some reason your OS is not installing on my pc. I'll try to right down the error I'm getting on that DOS installation (blue screen).

I also tried TinyXP and I'm having issues too. After install SP3 and Resources replaced nothing can be copied from or out of the OS... Can't even drag a short-cut in Desktop etc. Really strange.

Is SP3 helpful?

Most definitely, and a must for wprime.

Same XP was running 3d01 won't run 3d06/?!?

I click and nothing happens... what gives?

I'm benching right now so help is needed fast if possible.

Any tips on 3d06 on the XP machine? Triple buffering on or off? D3 overider? Physics on or off? LOD? Control Panel settings>Advanced? System cache?

Its same setup 3d01 = 980x + GTX 280 :-)

I did install with D3 Overrider OMG maybe that's it? How did you solve it Splay?

hmm maybe just try it on a different install if you have another HD laying around with XP on it?

we had a similar problem with 3d06....couldnt run for whatever reason.

sorry no help here either

make sure you have microsoft.net framework 2.0 installed. 3D06 don't work without it.

Thanks guys I was having all kinds of problems to run anything but 3d01 (Aquamark, 3D06 no go) so I will go with a fresh install and latest drivers tomorrow.

But at least I pulled 3D01 of and hopefully made Chuch proud:

Proud like a papa :D Sick work dude. Do me a favor if you ever get froggy enough to run the 980x in 01. Try running a higher QPI multi. If I get time I will test it myself on single stage to keep you from waisting your time, but I think it will make that score pop a little more.
