The inside of the block appears to have built-in pressure as there is only a small gap between the top of the block and the copper plate. This is similar to the EK Supreme design with its pressure plate that forces the coolant to squeeze thru a tight space. The EK pressure gap is much smaller than this block but the same principal is being applied. After running this block, it appears that the reviews are correct and this block performs on par with the EK Supreme. I like the mounting system as well but you can easily remove the existing bolt downs from the block and use it with another backplate system, no probs. |
I use this block on my gaming rig and find it does an excellent job. I've seen reviews were other blocks run neck and neck with it, but haven't seen it beaten as of yet . Keeps my OCd system in the mid 40's :)

That is a very nice mounting setup they have there.

Nope, I meant just what I said! |
Just remember if you use the 1366 version of that block on the classified, you have to cut one of the sides off of the backplate to avoid shorts on the back of the board.

EDIT: personal testing would be something to back up a statement like that ;) |

If you choose to believe the tests performed by Gabe then....Can I interest you in a bridge I have for sale? |

Heres the i7 block release news guys
Swiftech Announces Apogee GTZ Ci7 CPU Water Block Water-cooling specialist Swiftech expanded its lineup with the Apogee GTZ Ci7 CPU water block. From its name, one can infer that it specifically supports the Intel LGA-1366 socket (Core i7 and Xeon 5500 series). The frame that holds the block has the appropriate mount holes for LGA-1366. A bolt-through retention mechanism is bundled. The block itself is near-identical in specifications to the original Apogee GTZ. The CPU copper contact base is lapped, and has a matrix of 225 micron copper pins to boost surface area of heat dissipation. The housing is Delrin-made. Options for 1/2" and 3/8" hose barbs are provided. A tube of Arctic Silver Ceramique is bundled. It is priced at US $69.99. Source: Swiftech |
ditch the screws, backplate and springs and rig up some better ones if you plan on lapping your i7's. There is only so much thread on the factory thumb screws so when you shave almost a mm off on the IHS it doesn't allow for full contact.
just a friendly FYI :) |

Being as you already own this block Supes you could also just buy the appropriate adapter + backing plate kit. |

I have to cut the back plate to avoid some electrical components on the backside of my classified. It works ok still, I like the looks of the heatkiller also.
