The Return of DrNip to Benching
Pics and screen shots coming soon...
Here is what I have on my plate:
Nothing but 2D benching going on here. Plan on picking up an e8400 and a q6600 as well. Still need to pick up a better PSU. Still waiting on Gemini pot! Pretty much just trying to build back up my hardware collection. |
i suggest the hx850....its very good...
sell the h55...not worth for points ... using ln2 drnip? |

Nipp is got a long way to go :D |
drnip
no need to get another psu...i think you're golden with the ax850....hardware tactics is very expensive....i see you have cpus....rams and motherboards and psu...i think its time you get ln2 :D seen your old benching submission...pretty impressive.. |
I'm in need of a good psu myself. Running an hx620w right now. Eying that ax850w though.
OCM  |
Bring it Doc .................

ahem tpq oc in FS section ;)

Looks like we're gonna be heading into October with a "Lord of the Rings" theme. First wtih Gollem (Chroll) and now with the Return of the Drnip (King).
:D |

Nip! ...bout effing time! I've got a p45 board here and would love to have some s775 battles with you... :fencing: Dice is readily available to me here... but if you are going ln2 I can scrounge up the cash... Looking at your chips list now and scanning ebay for win sauce.... |
Only way I can go LN2 right now if I make the short drive over to dent's place, which is in the works. For every other day it will be DICE. Need to score me a better P55 mobo. My AX850 is in my AMDer but may or will have to swap it out for this OCZ 500 watter I have laying around. I'll figure it all out and be on the grind for the month of October. Kinda ironic I stepped out of the game last October just to pick right back up on it this October. :D
|
You are gonna have to pick a couple of things to focus on each session, waay too much time thawing out and swapping chips and re-freezing the pot to bench a ton of cpu's in one sitting.
We should have 4 cpu pots between us by the time we get together though so that will help. Get 3 or 4 motherboards ready to go at once and line 'em up! I have 775, 1156, 1366, and am3 boards all ready that we can use, as well as what boards you bring. Should be a blast (till we run out of cold sauce)!! |
Oh for sure we need a game plan. No way in hell getting it all done. Whatever we do I would like to see both of us get a 7ghz+ under our belts. If that is all we get done I will be satisfied. Hooking up the i5 750 right now that came in to see what she is about.

dr.dent in the making ;)

 i though about it when i was insulating the board.. |
Not too impressed with preliminary results on i5 750. Maybe I am too spoiled by golden chips. It does 4.4ghzish at 1.375 v. Might be my mobo though. Might drop it in a build I am doing today and pick up another. Problem with that is I stand the chance of getting a real loser. What to do.
|
iirc that's pretty damn good for 750's on air.

Sometimes I think it's just as addictive, too. |
lynfield @ 4.4ghz on air is pretty damn good...
|
Ya'll are prolly right. Might have to keep it. My luck the next one would prolly only do 4ghz on air! Then I would be real salty.

Nothing much going on here but some air testing at 210 BCLK 32m SuperPi. Working on my efficiency as I'm a lil rusty.

E2160 on the way too now. Love them $30 ebay chips! :D
Anyone recommend a high BCLK clocking P55 mobo. Classy is out of my price range, FTW I dunno. Kinda wanting to stay away from EVGA. Asus Maximus Formula looks great but not seeing many high BCLK clocks on it at the bot. Really looking at the MSI P55-GD65 as it has hit high BCLK on the 750. I will be using it for my 550, 655k and 750. http://www.hwbot.org/hardware/mother...=cpubenchmarks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130239 Price is right too at the egg. Like $129.99 after $30 MIR. Thoughts? Suggestions? |
|
Went with the MSI P55-GD80. :D
Switched the Corsair AX 850 out of my AMD'er with an OCZ 500 watter. 850 watter was kinda overkill in the rig. Be better put to use benching or at least for now. EDIT: You believe I ordered the mobo today, Sunday, and just got an email from the egg saying it was shipped? On a Sunday? Didn't even know they were open today. |

Well had a little fun afternoon today. Dentlord stopped by and we were testing a couple of my 530's out on my MSI P55-GD80 on AIR. Damnedest thing we had ever seen was going on. I knew one of the chips was dynamite as it overclocked like a champ on my Gigabyte GIGABYTE GA-H55N-USB3 Mini ITX mobo but for some reason we couldn't get either chip to clock for shit on the MSI. One wouldn't do over 205 BCLK (4.51ghz) and the other wouldn't do over 210 BCLK (4.62ghz). We tried everything in our power but it just wasn't happening. I knew the mobo could clock well as it overclocks my 750 Lynnfield like a champ. Something about the Clarkie's it doesn't like. So I took the dynamite chip out and popped it in the Gigabyte. Mind you Dentlord was laughing and couldn't believe the size of the mobo. Kept referring to it as a bathroom tile, lol but I kept swearing by the little mobo that could. In the end we pulled this off on AIR. Room temps were roughly 76-77 degrees. 5ghz on AIR any o day feels good. Can't wait to get this chip chilly. :D

Lol that was amazing, I wouldnt have bet on that mobo getting the chip to 4ghz, let alone 5ghz!!
|
Nice to see you guys teaming up like that :)
Could it be a bios issue on the other board? |
Quote:
bios could definitely be the issue, it HATED both clarkies we tried in it... @ Nip, I got the vcore and vmch mods done on the p5b deluxe, was going to test it when I realized that I no longer own even one stick of ddr2 LOL |

That's good stuff guys.

Wicked wild Nip :)
Hope my GD80 performs better... |
Congrats on the 5ghz air-cooled buddy. Nothing to sneeze at there. What's even cooler is that we have two teammates getting together to bench. :)

Yeah I can't call it. Luckily I had the H55 laying around. |
Nice 5G on air there. This is a promising chip there. :D
|
It is a nice chip. Was Superpi stable at 4.95ghz.
Working with the Blackops yesterday. Man I feel like a newb. What I could do with my Asus P5B Deluxe I couldn't with the Blackops. Kinda reminds me of the MSI/Gigabyte dilemma I was talking about a few post up. I gots to figure this mobo out before the weekend or else I will have to put it off until another time. If not I have plenty other hardware to bench. :D |
any 32nm @ 1.6v can do 5ghz.....
msi board...prolly has some issues... nonethelesss grats on core series 5ghz |
Finally picked up a Sempron 140 today. Supposedly it is one that can unlock to two cores. Also scored on a q6600 and e8600. Had a Malay 530 in sites but wasn't wanting to pay over $90 for it used. I was in until then. Guess I will have to deal with my Costa Rica chip. Also finally got my Asus P5B Deluxe modded. Thanks Dent! :D
|
Not a problem! Do you think we need the memory volt mod as well??
|
Dunno. Prolly wouldn't hurt if you could do it.
