i miss that pot :(

oh btw grab a fan and dangle it on one of the long screws...you don't want the cold air freezing up metal and attracting water...

check your mount.....compare thermometer temps and bios temps...

so i am back!
here is some of my benching after advices taken!
i am still rolling slowly

some how i can't seem get this stupid thing to run stable at 5-6-6-15 @ 2.2V

the ram it self is running at stock 2.2v is that gonna be a prob?
that's like sky high right?

in the attachment is the BIOS setting for this setup..

i ran the 32M just so i know the oc is kinda stable ;) right?

What gives on the frequency? Only 4ghz on DICE? Better drop the hammer and go with it or else send me that Commando. :D

GeorgeStorm 10-07-2010 06:16 AM

Is cpu-z reporting the voltage correctly?

i have no idea comes to voltage changing at all!

i was trying to post the voltage setting not the temp settings lol

here is my voltage settings
VCore - 1.2750
FSB - 1.250
NB Vcore - 1.300
Memory - 2.200
SB Vcore - 1.60
SB Chipset - 1.100

i didn't really have to play with the voltages at all to get it up to 4G is that good?:Dizzy:
cuz i can't get any higher than 4.2 with out increase voltage on the VCore

and here is the pix =) in the attachment

not really it's at 1.275

GeorgeStorm 10-07-2010 06:24 AM

You have no idea about voltage changing and you're using DI?
Seriously man, no offence,
But read up yeah?
Loads of guys here who could help you out, why not learn how to overclock before you jump in the deep end?
And really no offence meant, just theres no point you wasting time and money with DI until you know what you're doing :)

DrNip 10-07-2010 06:24 AM

Vcore, FSB and and nb core voltages will be your key voltages to tweak with. Best advice would be strap an air cooler on there and figure it out before you jump into the sub-zero end. That's the way I have to do it and is the way I am doing it again with my current 775 platform as I got spoiled on the core ix's and the ease of overclocking them. Forgot how to overclock a 775!

Splave 10-07-2010 06:26 AM

kikik not bad man :)

things I noticed
-you are undervolting lol! stock vcore on those I think is 1.3v :) you can probably go to 1.65-1.7v but it will stop scaling with just dice temps
-vsfb termination I max out highest available 1.55v I think
-vNB I set to 1.625v anything higher wont boot for me
-dram loosen to 5-6-6-15 and set 1:1 for cpu-z IE 200fsb = ddr2-400
-In bios, set to ignore all fan monitoring and control, and voltage and temps

Setfsb clockgen is CY28551 :) Good luck man!

PS @ georgestorm, I told him to try it out on his own first with a couple tips and then come ask questions. Best way to learn and understand instead of just plugging in my settings. He will get it!

kikicoco1334 10-07-2010 06:28 AM

ok it may came out wrong, i am not 100% no idea how to play with voltage at all, it's just alotta time i am not sure if this move is correct or not stuff like that

GeorgeStorm 10-07-2010 06:32 AM

Sorry, having re read my comment, sounds far harsher than I meant.
Just theres surely no point spending time and money with DI when hes playing at air speeds?
And at a mega basic level
You keep increasing the vcore to support the freq, and the nb and fsb aswell.
Just keep pushing the freq, when it doesn't work, up some voltages
Gradually get a feel for it.
And whatever you do, don't be afraid, mistakes quicken your learning a lot :P

DrNip 10-07-2010 06:35 AM

One thing you have to take with you when you are going into extreme overclocking is don't be afraid to tear some shit up. What I mean by that is if you ruin your mobo, cpu, psu or all of the above that is part of the game and you need to take it in stride. If you are afraid then you might as well change hobbies. Now I'm not saying this will happen or you need to try to do this just know that is part of the game. Now that we have established crank your volts up and then crank your frequency!!!!! :broomstick:

I just told you what voltages to use man  if it freezes up on you add more vcore until you hit the point where more voltage doesnt help. Then you will need colder temps (ln2)

OC Maximus 10-07-2010 08:38 AM

I just press buttons until something works and hope I don't burn something up in the process :)

No, really. I've been more of a trial and error type since I'm still pretty new to overclocking. Take note of what works and move on. Always keeping things within the limits of the cooling medium. I'm currently on water but will be making the move to Dice/LN2 as soon as I get all my stuff squared away.

Sorry for the hijack, back on topic.

OCM

i have always taking notes wile benching you'll see in most of my video - me with a clip board ;) lol

but more or less =... i monna overclock my :moon: off!
i am gonna be LN2ing it on the 15th most likely

DOM 10-07-2010 12:56 PM

GL kiki

take your time ;)

i seen on the bot some hit 5.8-6+ on just 1.7v

Patch 10-07-2010 03:33 PM

Alright, more cold action!

No fear is the way to go. All those parameters in BIOS are there to be used. Especially the stuff that gives you warnings in red.

Listen to Splave's suggestions for a starting point.

Neuromancer 10-07-2010 06:41 PM

Yup its only stuff :)

Heck I tried 1.6+ volts on my 920 with HTT on ON AIR

If you dont push it like you mean it... it pushes you.

kikicoco1334 10-08-2010 08:05 AM

lol thanks Neuromancer haha
i am pushing it right now!
on dice with 1.3** for now

btw is there any combination of voltage i should be watching for?

like between the vcore and fsb and nb?

Splave 10-08-2010 08:53 AM

nope, put them as high as they will go. Board wont boot if it doesnt like it

GeorgeStorm 10-08-2010 08:56 AM

1.3**??
Come on, seriously, set i at 1.6, then see how high you can push it ;)
Not a lot of point of DI if you don't push the volts...

Chuchnit 10-08-2010 09:04 AM

kiki don't be shy to feed volts man. Just step on the gas and don't loose that awesome determination you have!

kikicoco1334 10-08-2010 09:13 AM

haha thanks guys i just hit 5G with 1.4**

i am pushing it really slow but i am on my way

BTW i don't think my board liks FSB @ 175 at all... it'll boot at 180 but not 175 idk why
but yeah i wen from 170 to 200 with ClockGen =)
i'll be posting cpuz in a min

You will hit "FSB holes" at certain clocks. When you run into that try and push further like you did. You did the right thing by going on up to 200. :good:
