Yeah I did this a few years back with OCC. OCA can easily take the top in this one. Most of these guys are not benching stuff like we do here.

I'm in if we participate, I was under the impresion most of the competetors are under water and air though .....

No there have different classes you can compete in. At least this is what it was last time I played. You can go to the Forum Wars website and read the current rules.

Sounds like a blast. I know other forums have great fun with this. When do you need to know who is competing and in what class?

Yah, this looks like a really good idea for us. We've got air/water/phase/ln2 benchers at the ready and everybody has equal potential in contributing to a win.

There is alot of reading and understanding to do tho, gotta put the time into reading the rules/categories carefully to make a good showing.

Been trying to get the team in on this for a while now. Lets do it this time.

i left air and water few months ago....but been looking back at them lol... i got a new waterblock and some good aircoolers :D

If I can get a nice hardware build up by then, I will definitely be wanting to play. I'm pretty sure the top couple classes will be full here by then, but I'm more than happy to pick up any spot we are under-manned on and rape it.

rick would be another great "swing class" competitor...

Forum Wars begins in February 2011 with a new look and many sponsors donating some great hardware. We will also be using the new benchmark "Vantage". There will be a new handicapping system in place for the next war, so your system will be competitive in the class you run in..
All PC's entered will be givin a point value based on their componants..
All CPU threads will be added to the number of VGA cores along with your cooling options.. See below.
Air cooling = 0
Water cooling = 1
TEC & Chiller = 2
Phase & DICE = 3
Cascades & LN = 4
Examples:
(1) an i7 920 with 8 threads and a 4870X2 with 2 cores with Air cooling
This system is handicapped in this manner..
8 threads + 2 vga cores + (air) 0 = 10

(2) Q6600 (4 threads) and 2x 5870's (2 vga cores) using LN (4) is a 10

(3) Gulftown i7 980 (12 threads) and a 5870 (1 core) using H2O (1) is a 14

I was going to bench for Team Fusion on AMD Forums but since I've found a new family and am now a member of OCA I'll be benching here. Theres nothing like being on the winning team ;)

I competed in this with 411 in the past and it was alot of fun. The biggest thing I saw was organization. Getting scores submitted in time and then having the time to sort through the submissions to validate anything that is questioned.

I believe there is or was a certain amount of members allowed per division. Like three or so.

Depending on the format I will participate.

If I do not have the HW to make a good contribution I will step aside though

I should have 1156 by then... wont have Sandy Bridge yet, still have my 920 and AM3 stuff

So you know all the top hwbot forums around the globe have been invited to join.
competition will be stiff, it wont be the biggest, baddest rigs that win.
It'll be the overclocking ability of getting the most out of what you have
The reason is in the ALL NEW classes..
as mentioned earlier.. there is a new handicapping thing going on.
Also.. you can have as many 3 man teams in any class, as you wish.
meaning, you can have 3 "B class" teams
winning each class is great, But winning the overall is the ultimate acheivement
That would require winning or ranking high in each class.
These are the classes...


(8) Forum Wars 2011 Classes:

The A Class (3 player teams)

• 16+ Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The B Class (3 player teams)

• 14 ~ 15 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The C Class (3 player teams)

• 12 ~ 13 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The D Class (3 player teams)

• 10 ~ 11 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The E Class (3 player teams)

• 8 ~ 9 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The F Class (3 player teams)

• 6 ~ 7 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war

The G Class (3 player teams)

• 3 ~ 5 Point Handicap Players
• Unlimited downgrades per team
• No unreleased architecture ES chips that are not available retail for 1 month prior to the war
