Old Family Secret
Well, not so old, I put together this formula about 10 years ago when I was into weight lifting on a daily basis. I've never shared my recipe for this incredible energy drink, but hey, we're all Bro's here right?
BTW - at first everyone in the family said ... ewwwwww.. or something to that effect when I told them the recipe, but once they tried it they said ...YUMMM. rofl So, for a deliscious, healthy, uplifting drink here it comes. Keep in mind you'll be buzzing with newfound energyfor hours after drinking it (don't completely know why), but, You'll need a good blender (no little GNC hand crank piece of shit) - 16 oz Orange Juice - 2 giant scoops of vanilla yogurt - 1 banana Blend well With blender on, add 1 or 2 scoops of Chocolate Protein powder (I prefer Monster Milk, but whatever you prefer) Blend well Turn blender off and add 8 to 10 ice cubes and 1/2 to 1 cup of frozen Blueberries. Blend well until the ice and blueberries are completely pulverized. You should now have approx 45 oz (give or take) of Frozen protein shake that is purpleish in color and has tiny bits of blueberry suspended in it. Drink all :D You're gonna love it!! After a short while, drink a large glass of water. I started making these twice a day 2 days ago and my energy levels are way up... like WAAY up  Great for before or after a workout, or, just for some good nutrition. Enjoy  |
vanilla yogurt sounds good...i haven't tried that.....i'm into energy drinks..but my body gets used to them....and they won't work eventually ..lol
|

I usually drink 2 or 3 protien shakes a day. They are very good for maintaining good blood sugar levels through out the day. I'll have one for breakfast and then again later for a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack/meal. They are also excellent post work out to help in building up lean body mass. However my recipe is lower in sugar/carbs ...
-1 cup skim milk -1 cup water -2 scoops protien powder mix (usually 100% whey) -1 cup fruit -Blend in blender. You can also substitute using just 2 cups of water or just 2 cups of skim milk (the milk is just adding to the total carbs of the drink). There are lots of different shake combos... Chocolate powder and bannana Chocolate and strawberries Vanilla powder and strawberries vanilla and peaches vanilla and blueberries or mixed berries You can use frozen fruit (they sell it by the bag at Kroger/Costco) as kind of like ice cubes to cool the shake down. Sometimes I'll just mix up the vanilla or chocolate shake without adding in the fruit and I'll just eat one apple, or one pear, or one peach, etc. along with the shake. |
Gotta remember dude, there are GOOD carbs and there are BAD carbs. mine was formulated to include ONLY the good carbs, and the sugar is natural not processed so it don't turn into fat. One of the keys is getting a good protein mix that uses only high quality good carbs and contains both fast acting and slow acting whey proteins and peptides (Monster Milk also contains milk protein isolates... makes sense with the name and all I guess :P )
Anyway, key is LOTS of water every day - half gallon or more if your into body building like I was. Unfortunately was is the key word  In my mind I was Arnold, in my back I was too old to be doing military presses with 145lb on the bar :argh: |
+1 to drinking lots of H2O. Most of us don't drink enough even when we put forth the effort. I'm always trying to keep on track.
The average american joe gets way, way to much of their caloric intake from carbs and fat. It is tough to keep those two in check. |
Man I used to carry around a gallon of water everywhere I went when I lifted. Gawd I don't miss having to piss so much, but I did and still do feel way better when hydrated properly.

You know, you would be surprised at how big you can get by just eating clean, staying hydrated, taking a good multi vitamin, proper protien supplements and getting plenty of sleep. Without that all of those flashy supplements won't do shat.

Good to hear it splave, you're night unstoppable!
Are half the members of this team bodybuilders? :P Sounds like an interesting drink though, and if I had a blender, i'd certainly give it a go :P |
HMPH...Youngsters and thier power drinks and muscles. When you get old you don't need all the body mass, you get mean to compensate.

The pwn the 12oz curl. :taunt:

MD I've made this a couple times this week. I didn't have blueberries so I used frozen blackberries. I found that I like it best with only half a banana and 8oz of OJ.
|
Yeah, I probably should've added "add to taste" huh  The banana is for phosphates or something like that and the berries for antioxidents. I usually just pour the blueberries in until it looks about right.. thinking closer to a cup, but..
I'll have to try blackberries, but I originally went with blueberries cause they're the most potent :) |
