6970 availible
|
6950

Looks like all they will be good for is gamer rigs. Right now it seems as if Nvidia will own pretty much the whole bench suite other than maybe AM3.
|
pretty good pricing imo :D people were selling used 5870s for a little under that
|
yeah i love the price on it....i wonder if they'll increase the pricing..coz right now its just soo tempting
|
one good thing i see is voltera...but not much caps..
on the screaming 6870...the used chil.... |

Killer deal for gamers with twice the teselation preformance of the 5870 .... I agree for benchers though not much of an invesment unless they get real popular and there is hardware bointage to be had, Globals will be owned by the the 580 I am glad to see nV finally beat AMD to the punch the 4 K series and 5 K series they have been calling the shots even though the nV late to the party cards have outpreformed them, main stream just not willing to upgrade for 5 or 10% But nV is calling the shots here and if hind sight is 20/20 AMD will never release a mid line card first ..... dumb ass move if you asked me, even if they would have only beat nV by two or three weeks they could have held the crown for those two weeks over the 480 .... Now the shoe is on the other foot and our next vid event will be Spring refreshes of these cards or will this force AMD to throw out some new tech in the second quarter ???? |
I don't think we can really count on many refreshes since 28nm (next shrink) isn't even gonna hit production stage until H2 2011. Pretty much it will be what you see is what you get other than 6990 and maybe a dual Nvidia card. Oh and it should give partners plenty of time to come up with custom cards.

OH NO not another MSI Lightning FAIL  |
the 480 lightning is good...whats wrong with it?
|
some do 1100 some do 1400 lol too much of a variation imo
|
Someone isn't paying attention. 95% of them did 1100.
|
See sig
Bin the fucking things ........... period MSI needs to make every lightning scream as marketed IMO |
you really suggesting binning them? like the 980x some are good some aren't.
its the same game. calling them fail is a fail deduction in itself |
IDK about that. Try spending a few thousand on them and not getting a good one then get back to me on that.

there is no 980X other than the one from Intel.... they do not market any batch to be better than another ... you simply buy a 980X and hope for the best MSI throws out cherries to sponcered heavy weights and markets these to be da buam LN2 cards .... we are targeted, make no mistake.. It is a shame so many of us end up being disapointed ...... All I am am asking from MSI if they are marketing them as hot rods AKA better than the other guys card, they should take the responcibility of making sure they are. |

here's the 480s...use 1xgpu http://www.hwbot.org/hardware/videoc...0?tab=rankings 17 out of top20 single vantage are from msi. |
LOL ..............
Honda, I am not going to argue about the suceess of these cards When you get a good one it is great ..... no argument there My problem is how many thousands of cards did it take to find those 17 :Dizzy: But nuff said on this, Suffice to say I won't be rolling the dice on an overpriced lottery ticket anytime soon |

I think what Witchdoctor is trying to say is that for the price premium and the crazy amount of marketing (ln2 jumpers and whatnot) that the norm should be that the cards perform better than most ref cards. If they didn't market them so hard with hand selected samples to advertise their dominance over ref cards, then it would be no harm, no foul. |
Guys, the lightning price premium is for power circuitry. And it's appropriate. Still need to bin the GPU.
There's no friggin way any company would be able to recoup the cost of true binning from consumers on anything more than very limited samples for advertising and reviews. They would lose money. |
I've had it with ATI for while.
Maybe when they grow up and learn how to write drivers for their damned cards. |

Yea I agree that is a huge part of the cost, That being said though, with a dog GPU what good is it? |
garrett former MSI engineer said there is no way to bin these before they strap them on the cards so luck of the draw....

That sucks.......... luck of the draw on a card costing $ 100.00 more than reference is hard to swallow for me But I guess the drive for gold compells enough people to buy enough of them for MSI to keep offering them up .... |

Edit: Lets not forget the Ferengi rule of aqusition #62 The riskier the road, the greater the profit. |

We all are suckers when it comes down to it. We have all spent the cash for the best of the best one time or another, what gets me on the lightnings is so many of our OCA bretheren got ripped the fuck off on these cards .... I guess that is why it is such a sore spot, but I as well am a gluten for punishment ......... I think I may work towards a SOC 580 when availible .... That is if I can get some freaking work  Unfortunatly they are the same deal I am sure ..... pot luck  |
