i5 660 madness!

I am a pretty new member here, I think this is actually my second post, but that will not stop me from sharing some of the results I was able to achieve with my fantastic i5 660 ES chip on DICE cooling :)

Lets start with some 8800GTX 3D action...



After that I went after some 2D stuff and ended up with a phenomenal 272BCLK! Running almost 4.9Ghz uncore and ~2160 on the RAM, my pifast was an OK run :D
also knocked out a 1m at the same speed.

Nice. I love clarkdales. Hella fun to overclock with. I had plans of getting a UD2h mobo myself but never got around to it. They can put out some major BCLK.

I'm not so much of a fan, really struggling with this 670 and ud5 :/

nicely done, I use my 655k clarkbar for 3D03 runs. Try it out sometime

yes, these boards are real monsters! I run this chip daily at 240x19 with only 1.43v VTT ;)

I am pretty sure I tried, but I had a run with my E8500 at 5.6 and the score was better. (although it had about 100Mhz on the i5)

I've been told they're pretty sensitive to voltages?
What other settings you running for both daily, and the OC on DI?

daily it was:

240x19
1.360v vcore
1.43v VTT
1.7v vDIMM
thats all I really needed to change really...

ALSO, note that in order to achieve any sort of BCLK over like 205 I was forced to use the 2:16 RAM divider and the 2:32 QPI divider. (x8 ram and x16 QPI)

on DI it was mostly the same, anywhere from 1.6-1.75v vcore
maybe from 1.4-1.5v VTT depending on multi/BCLK combo
vDIMM was left around 1.7v like air.

I am really having trouble with this chip up at higher frequencies though....max i could get was 5.9 validated and wprime/HT really make things turn funky.
really great shit though, I had a lol wut moment when i booted 270BCLK :D
right now its rocking like 3.8 in my HTPC because im too lazy to give it some real cooling. Was thinking of letting it go for an i3 because lets be honest, i dont need a pretty much golden chip in a cheapo gaming rig

well, I think its time for a little update to this thread, as I was able to find some very stable settings for this chip at an astonishing 272BCLK. I can run 3D at 5712Mhz (272x21) pretty much all day long at -65 or so. This chip has just continued to amaze me on DICE, and I really wonder what sorts of speeds it is capable of on LN2. A keeper for sure! :)

anyway, here are some results from a quick session with a volt modded 4870 last saturday





now that one confuses me....its a dual threaded benchmark but at 5712 I am only matching the scores of an i7 920 @ 4.9..... WTF!

really need a GPU pot to start getting some better clocks on the card to match the CPU :D
If anyone has one I wouldnt mind an offer.... hehe

you really need to put some ln2 on that cpu for 2D benches.

Trying to acquire a dewar at the moment, already got a place lined up to fill it for cheap ;)

The card is a non-ref Sapphire with a pretty beefy VRM. handled 1.55v no problems and sayed relatively cool. stole it from the HTPC :D

Thats good to hear you taken the next level of cold home bro, nothing like a nicely clockin card ;)
